DIY Stylish Backyard Privacy Wall

02:51
You may have already seen this video in fast forward through Home Depot Canada's FB page. Yes that was me, now I'm posting it in a normal speed, so you can pick up on the key details. In this video tutorial, I show you how to make a gorgeous privacy wall that will make your backyard feel like an oasis and look like you're on vacation! I use MicroPro Sienna treated lumber, an eco friendly pressure treated lumber that has a great natural brown tone to it, so the colour you're seeing in my video, is the way you see it in store. I used ripped fence boards to create this wall, I set my table saw to 2.5" and ripped 2 pieces from each fence board. The length for mine was under 4 ft wide. The key to making the weave is the friction lock on the inner face frame and the center spine board I created from 2x2 or ripped 2x4. Be safe and have fun! DIY Floating Shelf

03:24
If you want the easiest floating shelf you've ever made and installed, watch this video as I show these great blind shelf support brackets I picked up from Lee Valley Tools. You can buy them online from US or Canada, so there's no worries about availability. With my shelf I was using a 2x8 that I had ripped down in to create a square edge. If you plan on using these brackets with other woods or materials, make sure you have a minimum of 1" thick material, to allow for the 7/16" diameter hole you need to drill to accommodate the hex bar.
Mitre vs Bevel

02:02
In this video I wanted to give a brief description on the mitre saw in sharing how I define the difference between a mitre cut and a bevel cut. I find a lot of people who use this saw mix up their terminology, so I felt a quick tutorial on the terms would help solve the confusion. DIY Farmhouse Window Trim

06:00
In this video I am showing you how easy it is to add a Farmhouse Trim Style to your windows. I used a mantel trim for the actual header, which can be found at any lumber mill or big box hardware store. My choice of casing is a simple traditional molding that adds a cleaner straight line look to my windows. I then had a 1x6 piece of pine for my window sill and used the same side casings for the bottom molding beneath the sill. Please let me know if there's anything specific you have about your space and I'll be happy to answer in the comments section. Epic Backyard Hockey Rink

05:00
In this video I show you how to build a great backyard rink using all lumber products, no specialty items from any hard to find suppliers. My liner is a 6mil poly, which was sourced and bought from www.therinkstore.com This is a Canadian company, so I'm not too certain on their shipping limits, but there are many more online if you simply search. I use a 2x10 skirting and then used 2x4's and 3/4" plywood to create a strong end board. I also anchored it with vertical 2x4 stakes with diagonal bracing to resist any hits the boards will take. Please leave a comment and don't hesitate to ask any questions. I will be posting a 2nd portion to the video of what I did once the water was in and the ice has formed. How To Make the Perfect Mitre in 12 Seconds

01:51
If you have struggled to hold your mitres in place while doing your trim work, then this will certainly help you. Whether you used to glue them with wood glue or just have a clamp to hold them in place while you pulled out your nail gun. There's multiple versions of this glue available at different retailers, the glue I'm using is called Mitre Apel, and has saved me hours on job sites and made my corners look ultra clean. DIY Stackable Side Table & Planter

03:59
In this video tutorial, I show you how to make a super simple outdoor table that not only is a table, but it doubles as a planter, and the bonus they stack! One of my favourite uses for these tables is when you stack them, at night I put my solar LED lights in them and they look so good. I use MicroPro Sienna treated lumber, an eco friendly pressure treated lumber that has a great natural brown tone to it, so the colour you're seeing in my video, is the way you see it in store. I used ripped fence boards to create the linear shape, I set my table saw to 2.5" and ripped 2 pieces from each fence board. I used a full board, and then offset my pattern with a ripped board in between. Keep in mind, PT lumber is generally inconsistent on thickness, so to keep the boards consistent, use one board to go all the way around, it helps line up any grains and gives you pretty close to perfect board thicknesses on each row. Be safe and have fun! How to Cut Trim

02:55
In this video I share my method of how to accurately and cleanly cut small moldings. The majority of trim is MDF or Pine, and with pine you find the moldings will split or blowout, but with my methods you'll never see a blowout again.
DIY Tablet Holder

03:23
In this video I show you how to make a super simple and cost effective tablet holder. I used 1' of 1x2 pine and 13" piece of 1x8 pine to create this holder. I had a 3/8" dado blade on, but you can always do multiple passes on a regular table saw blade or simply use a jigsaw to cut out the profile.
