Tight Cave - Large Caver II

04:22
Yet another video in the series We Do These Caves So That You Don't Have To. Daren Cilau is one of the most extensive cave systems in South Wales with it's maze of magnificent passages including the Time Machine, the largest passage in the Country. The long and tight entrance crawl has protected this cave from over visitation and much of the passages are pristine with a wonderful arrays of formations in in several areas of the cave. This video taken on 5th August 2012 shows why a trip into Daren Cilau is not possible for some cavers.

Caving in Porth Yr Ogof

06:05
Porth Yr Ogof (translated as the gateway to the cave) boasts the largest entrance of any cave in Wales at over 17 m wide and almost 5 m tall. Porth Yr Ogof was once operated as a showcave, but is now managed by the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority on a 999 year lease. A managed pay and display car park adjoins a BBNPA visitor centre that is generally manned by a warden. The maze of passages with multiple entrances and easy access has made this the most popular cave in South Wales for outdoor activity groups. The cave is estimated to have over 30,000 visitors per year. Clips from this video were featured on The One Show on 21st February 2018. Ogof Rhyd Sych - A Caving Trip

07:13
Ogof Rhyd Sych is a little visited cave with a fearsome reputation built on the tight, low, wet and arduous passages that you need to pass on the route into the cave. Beyond this however the cave suddenly changes character to reveal 500m of the finest river cave passage in the UK. A fine reward for those thin cavers determined enough to make a visit. Alum Pot - Finest Abseil in Yorkshire

05:43
Alum Pot is a pothole with a large open 100 metre deep shaft on the eastern flanks of Simon Fell, North Yorkshire. The beck which cascades into it appears quite insignificant and the surface of the shaft is clothed with trees, yet it contains one of the best hidden sights in Yorkshire and probably one of the finest abseils in the country. It is a scene that can only be witnessed by cavers, and perhaps goes some way to answering the question, “Why do you do it?” Music: Fanfare for Space by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1300026 Artist: http://incompetech.com/ I Want to Fall in Love on Snapchat by Chris Zabriskie is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://chriszabriskie.com/dtv/ Artist: http://chriszabriskie.com/ Transcend by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Artist: http://audionautix.com/ Far Out Man by Jingle Punks

Peak Cavern - A Trip to Moss Chamber

09:54
A 3m climb on the north wall of Upper Gallery about 150m upstream from Mucky Ducks leads into Pickering’s Passage - an unimposing 1m diameter phreatic tube. This is the start of a fine sporting trip which culminates in one of the best decorated chambers in Peak’s lower series. It was also the scene of a terrible tragedy that began to unfold on Sunday 22nd March 1959 when Neil Moss a 20 year old Oxford undergraduate became wedged in a narrow vertical tube which leads off this chamber. Erratum: The book 'Race Against Time - A History of the Cave Rescue Organisation' was written by Jim Eyre and John Frankland - not Franklin as shown in the closing credits.

Fenix Lighting The Way

02:00
Something a little different from Caver Keith Videos - a product review. We've always struggled to get good video in large cave passages so today we tried out some 3800 lumen FD65 focusing torches from Fenix. The torches were able to light up some of the largest passages and they are absolutely brilliant for video. The range of light settings and the fact that at flood setting there isn't a trace of a hotspot make them ideal caving video lights. A longer edit of the video we took with the torches will appear on YouTube shortly. Filmed in Agen Allwedd, South Wales on Sunday 11-03-2018. Lesser Garth Cave / Ogof Ffynnon Taf

11:13
Another cave in the series 'We do these caves so that you don't have to.' Ogof Ffynnon Taf was first explored in 1986 after the entrance was uncovered by quarrying. It is now only accessible via Lesser Garth Cave as the original entrance has been filled in, however the connection between the two caves contains a number of physical challenges. Ogof Ffynnon Taf contains some really superb cave formations, but they can only be viewed by those cavers thin enough and determined enough to make a visit. Filmed on Sunday 29th April 2012.

OFD's 42 kilometres of passage have been explored by many thousands of cavers since it was discovered in 1946, but there are areas of the cave which have been rarely visited. One of these areas is the Prokofiev Series which lies only a few metres from Timo's Table on one the main trade routes through the cave.
