Panasonic 12mm 1.4 vs 14mm 2.5 with Wide Conversion (11mm) Review

06:34
We're doing a comparison review putting up the super-heavy-weight Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 12mm f/1.4 H-X012 against a much-more-budget-friendly option - the Panasonic Lumix 14mm f/2.5 H-H014 with the DMW-GWC1 wide conversion to bring it out to 11mm. We've got lots of sample shots with both as well as my take. The vlogs shot completely with these two lenses are: 12mm 1.4 - VLOG #129: Snowing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzTWigWumUs 14mm 2.5 with Wide Conversion- VLOG #131: 1,000 Subs - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpD9b2paslM And why not throw in the proper model names for people searching for reviews of these.

Panasonic G7 as a Vlogging Camera Review

09:43
I've been searching for a good vlogging camera. I originally bought the Nikon D5500 then returned it for this. Now at 100+ vlogs with it. Compared to the Canon 70D, it shoots at 60fps at 1080 and can shoot UHD 4K at 30fps. Focusing seems to be quite good as well. A few examples throughout this video. Best Panasonic Lenses for Vlogging Review

We'll review the kit Panasonic 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6, the Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8, the Olympus 9-18mm f/4.0-5.6, the Panasonic 7-14mm f/4, and the Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8. the MFT is a fantastic option for vlogging because of how light the bodies and lenses are.

Is the Nikon D5500 a Good Vlogging Camera?

04:58
I've been looking at getting more into vlogging but my D800 is SO HEAVY and no flip out screen or automatic focusing. The D7000 was in the same boat. So I picked up a D5500 to see how it works out. You definitely need a mic other than the internal one, but the screen is gorgeous and it seems to track faces really well. Check it out or watch a full VLOG I did after with the D5500 to see how it works out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6v-9S2p4c4Q NOTE YOU NEED TO GET THIS NOW WITH THE NEW AF-P LENS for smoother autofocus! The BEST Drone for Vlogging is the DJI Spark

05:06
Sure, take it with a grain of salt, but if you're a vlogger, I think the DJI Spark is for you. It's so small, it still shoots decent video, it's inconspicuous, and it isn't that expensive. Yes, there's better drones out there, but you probably don't need them. Simply being able to tell a story is more important. Vlogging: Canon 80D/70D vs Panasonic G85/G7

08:31
Let's talk about the heavyweight vlogging champion twins the Canon 80D and 70D and how they compare to my personal camera, the Panasonic Lumix G7 as well as the soon-to-be released Lumix G85! Maybe we can get somewhere on which on is the best vlogging camera. 80D/70D are going to have better focusing for sure, but they both lack 4K and are WAY heavier. The 70D also can't shoot at 60fps for sports or slow motion. The G85 adds in-camera stabilization for even smoother picture, too! STOP Saying "I can't VLOG. My life's not that interesting."

04:09
I've heard this far too often from people who think that everybody else's life is WAY more interesting than theirs and they have nothing to talk about. It's a cop out! If you can be you and practice being interesting, you're going to be fine.

It doesn't matter if you want to take better pictures with your smartphone for Instagram or dSLR for more professional stuff, here's a simple tip that photographers call the "rule of thirds" that will help you. Push the person off to one side of the photo. Photos and video shot on a Nikon D800. Photos using the Nikon 80-200/2.8. Video with Nikon 50/1.4D. Video audio is with Rode SmartLav+.

VLOG Video Editing Process, Tips & Tricks

08:06
Here's my entire process start-to-finish of how I import, build my timeline, edit, glue, and add audio for my vlog. I didn't want to make a 3-hour tutorial video so it's more of just an overview of my process for vlogging, but it's how I do it with some great tips and tricks along the way. Any questions, just drop a comment below! I use Adobe Premiere CC for my vlog editing, but all of this is relevant in iMovie, Windows Movie Maker, or Final Cut.

Sony a6500 vs Panasonic G85 Focus Speed Test

02:56
One of the main reasons I switched to Sony was for their super-fast, accurate focus. But how much better is it than the G85? Well, to be honest, in this situation, not as much better as I thought. The G85 still does very well, but it is a high-contrast area and it's not nearly as quick. If your Panasonic G85 or G7 isn't focusing like this, make sure you check out my settings video for how to setup the focus! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZlisiY-u9Y New Sony camera & lens: http://amzn.to/2owhmEU Must-have other lens for new camera: http://amzn.to/2pJlBiv Mic I use on my vlogging rig: http://amzn.to/2oQcvBU My bendy-tripod: http://amzn.to/2pkAJ8R Old main Panasonic camera: http://amzn.to/2pJl5AU Favourite vlogging lens for old camera: http://amzn.to/2oabI05 If you can only have 1 Panasonic lens, get this one: http://amzn.to/2pkxUEH

In My Bag: Tokina 16-28, Tamron 24-70, Nikon 80-200 and Yongnuo Flashes on a D800

I'm walking through the gear in my bag with sample photos and some close-ups. I'll be doing quick reviews on each piece which includes my Nikon D800, Tokina 16-28/2.8, Tamron 24-70/2.8 VC, Nikon 80-200/2.8D, and the super handy Yongnuo Speedlite YN560-II and YN560-III. Oh, and they're all housed in a trusty Lowepro ProTactic AW 350. Any questions, just ask! Plus, you can view full-res images on my Flickr at https://www.flickr.com/justinreves

Switching from the G85 to the a6500 UPDATE #3 some buyers remorse?

10:59
We've now had the Sony a6500 for 2 weeks to review and have sold the last of the Panasonic equipment, but it's certainly not all sunshine and roses. We've done VLOGs, tech videos, and put it through the paces and it's certainly got it's ups and its' down. The Panasonic G85, GH4, and GH5 beat it in a lot of ways, but not all of them. Make your DSLR shotgun mic sound WAY better for interviews!

03:43
This is a simple but VERY effective (and CHEAP) tip if you usually record people (like in an interview or YouTube setting) while leaving the mic on the camera. You gotta get it off of there and overtop them. It'll make it sound WAY better. The #1 KILLER of Creativity

05:08
We all go through ups and downs in the process of being creative, but there's one main thing that we do to ourselves that kills our creativity and robs our courage: it's comparing ourselves. To others and to ourselves and our past success.

The First Thing You Should Buy for Your dSLR - A 50mm 1.8 Lens

03:18
If you've yet to get really excited about your digital SLR, it's probably because you're still using the kit lens. Yes, you can take fine photos with it, but the real magic happens when you can go low with a low-aperture, fast prime lens like a 50mm/1.8 - and they're not too expensive! Watch and see what I mean.

A very cheap Rode mic vs an expensive Rode mic

04:38
This isn't a scientific test, but this $59 Rode VideoMicro does SURPRISINGLY well against the much-more-expensive $399 Rode NTG 4+ - IN THIS KIND OF SITUATION. Sure, you back up the mic or you're doing vlogging, the results are going to be VERY different. But for a simple YouTube style video, both are great! Just thought it was an interesting comparison!
