Gemstone Warrior game ending (Apple II - SSI)

04:41
Gemstone Warrior (http://www.mobygames.com/game/gemstone-warrior) was an action strategy game published by SSI in 1984 for the Apple ][. I consider it to be one of the best action games for Apple ][, as there was no other games quite like it at the time. The player needs to collect 5 pieces of a gemstone while fighting monsters along the way. Once all pieces are collected, the player can go back to the teleport to end the game and whether to stop the game or go to the next level. I'm showing you the first two levels in this video. The levels are: Warrior, Champion, Knight, Lord, King, Demigod, Peter L, Trouba G, Paradigm, Creators, treasure, and bonus. Creators is the final level, because last two levels were actually strings that happened to be placed directly after Creators and not actual levels. If the player continue the game after the "bonus" level, the game will crash, probably due to memory corruption. To get all 5 pieces of gemstone, enter $C1 $C2 $C3 $C4 $C5 starting at address $6827. Minit Man (http://www.elisoftware.org/index.php?title=Minit_Man_(Apple_II_and_C64,_5_1/4%22_Disk)_Penguin_Software_-_1983_USA,_Canada_Release) was an action game published by Penguin Software in 1983 for the Apple ][. The player needs to assemble a bridge in order to transport missiles to a launch site, and then launch the missiles while fighting off flying robots. I consider Minit Man to be one of the coolest (and hardest) action games for Apple ][. The game creator, Greg Malone, later created great games such as Moebius and Windwalker (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fe3Z9zJXuM0). Hope you enjoy the longplay! PS: The # of lives is stored at address 0xC2. The minute and second for the timer are stored at address 0x79-0x7C. I modified the game to get infinite lives and stop the timer from decrementing the minutes. Level 1 is hard enough, I have no idea how people can play Level 2 and beyond, even with cheats. :) Credits: Cover art - www.elisoftware.org

Phase II is a side scrolling shooting game in which the player controls the jet to escape the enemy site. In Phase III, the game becomes a vertical shoot 'em up similar to Xevious. I never made much progress in Phase II when I played the game as a kid, so I use cheats to play through the game this time. The levels start repeating itself after Level 9 and I don't think the game has an ending. Hope you enjoy the longplay! PS: The # of hits is stored per digit at address 0x65-0x66. The time is stored per digit at address 0x30-33.

MY LONGEST LONGPLAY OF 2016: Amnesia walkthrough (Apple II - Cognetics/Electronic Arts)

03:06:48
You wake up in a hotel room, without any idea who you are and how you ended up there. You would meet people who seem to know you and want to help you, but should you trust them? You set on a quest to discover your identity and your past. Amnesia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amnesia_%28video_game%29) was a text adventure game created by Cognetics Corp. and published by Electronic Arts in 1986 for the Apple ][. Powered by the King Edward adventure engine, Amnesia was the only text adventure game ever published by EA. Hope you enjoy the walkthrough! On a personal note, this walkthrough was the longest and most involving one I have ever done. I read the original manuscript written by Thomas M. Disch (http://gue.cgwmuseum.org/galleries/index.php?pub=0&item=67&id=3&key=1) and came up with a solution that touches the key elements in the script. The realistic depiction of New York City in the game was amazing for a game at that time, but it had me constantly checking the city map and subway map. Now, I've got a much better understanding of NYC subway lines, although the ones used in the game (such as RR and LL) were mostly phased out or replaced :) Here is an interesting commentary about the author and the game: http://www.filfre.net/2014/09/amnesia/ The long play is done by Smartadventurer, a program that I wrote to automate the playing for vintage Apple ][ games. The player controls both The Human Torch and The Thing on a quest to rescue Alicia Masters from Doctor Doom. Hope you enjoy the walkthrough! Mating Zone short play (Apple II - Datamost)

10:56
Mating Zone (http://www.mobygames.com/game/mating-zone) was an action game published by Datamost in 1983 for the Apple ][. The game was a shoot 'em up with a twist - the aliens could mate with each other in the mating zone to become more powerful. Hope you enjoy the short play! I tried going to different level to see if there is a special in-game sequence or animation, but sadly the game cycled back to Level 1 after Level 99 with no special effects. The # of lives is stored at address $15 and you can get infinite lives by changing $729F from $C6 to $A5. The level is stored at $1C. Credits: Cover art - www.pixelatedarcade.com

Take 1 Disk Drive Music (Apple II - Baudville)

01:42
This is my first disk drive music video captured in an emulator! This is a very big deal because Apple ][ emulators have only been able to handle disk images without copy protection, until now! I'm using the latest Virtual ][, which supports the new .WOZ disk format created by [email protected] (https://twitter.com/DiskBlitz) for Apple II emulators. The format captures disk images in full fidelity, allowing emulators to support original disk images with copy protection such as nibble checks, spiral tracks, etc. Take 1 was an animation software published by Baudville in 1984. The software uses synchronized track protection for track 0 and 1, which you can hear at 0:11. Details of the protection can be found on the 4AM website: https://archive.org/download/BlazingPaddles4amCrack/Blazing%20Paddles%20%284am%20crack%29.txt

SAGA 5: The Count walkthrough (Apple II - Adventure international)

17:56
You awake in a large brass bed in a castle somewhere in Transylvania. Who are you, what are you doing here and WHY did the postman deliver a bottle of blood? The Count (http://www.mobygames.com/game/apple2/count) was a graphics adventure game published by Adventure International in 1982 for the Apple ][. It is the fifth adventure game of the Scott Adams Graphic Adventure series. Hope you enjoy the walkthrough! This game was very difficult to find. Thanks to 4AM for sharing it with everyone! SAGA 41: Buckaroo Banzai walkthrough/longplay (Apple II - Adventure International)

33:59
Based on the 1984 movie The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, you are Dr. Banzai and you need to stop a bomb set by the aliens Black Lectroids from going off. The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai: Across the eighth dimension (http://www.mobygames.com/game/adventures-of-buckaroo-banzai-across-the-eighth-dimension) was a graphics adventure game published by Adventure International in 1984 for the Apple ][. The game was powered by the Scott Adams Graphics Adventure (SAGA+) engine. According to Scott Adams, this game is number 41 in the Scott Adams Graphic Adventure (SAGA) series, after the game Return to Pirate's Island, which was number 14 in the series. https://www.lysator.liu.se/adventure/scott_adams_14.html The long play is done completely by Smartadventurer, a program that I wrote to automate the playing for vintage Apple ][ games. The program interacts with Virtual ][ (http://virtualii.com), an awesome Apple ][ emulator for Mac OS X. Russki Duck longplay (Apple II - Gebelli software)

13:14
The MX missile plan has fallen into foreign agents and hidden inside a duck decoy. You must get the duck and the plan back to the security room in the CIA building, while dodging attacks from foreign agents and avoiding bombs scattered in all buildings. Russki Duck (http://www.platypuscomix.net/applepalooza/russkiduck.html) was an action game written by Eric Knoop and Alan Merrell, and published by Gebelli software in 1982 for the Apple ][. I was very excited when I saw this game as a child because it was a real-time game showing a city with people and cars moving at the same time. There was nothing remotely close to it at that time. Hope you enjoy the longplay! Credits: Cover art - asimov.net

NORAD Cadet level longplay (Apple II - Western MicroData)

13:18
NORAD (http://www.mobygames.com/game/apple2/norad) was an action game written by Ron Smailes and published by Western MicroData in 1981 for the Apple ][. Hope you enjoy the longplay! The Cadet level was hard enough for me and I am curious if anyone has ever won the Base Commander level. I got the extra MX missile site in Wave 4 and I believe the player can launch missiles from a submarine at some advanced stage of the game. Credits: Cover art - www.pinterest.com

The Dallas Quest (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dallas-quest) was a graphics adventure game published by Datasoft in 1984 for the Apple ][. The interpreter seems to be similar to Sands of Egypt (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWQtx63MZIg), an adventure game published a year earlier by Datasoft. Hope you enjoy the walkthrough! Wilderness (Apple II - Electric Transit)

02:48
This is an interesting survival adventure game that provides accurate simulation of the environment (weather, sun, health, read condition, weight of the backpack, etc.). E.g. "Look North" will turn the player to face the magnetic north, but "Use compass" followed by "Look Azimuth [degrees]" will allow the player to face the true north. It's quite an achievement for a game released in 1984. Cover art credits: www.mobygames.com
