Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf - Getting Angry, Baby?
One of my favorite scenes (and there are oh so many) from the film adaptation of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" For the longest time, I thought I'd hate this movie based on the title alone. On watching it, I was completely blown away. I never did understand why people always made such a fuss about Elizabeth Taylor, until I saw her in this film. Absolutely wonderful movie. If you've never seen it, I can't recommend it enough.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding - Now You Are Family
My favorite scene from the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." As a guy, I avoided seeing this movie - despite hearing good things. Once I did though, I have to admit it wasn't all that bad. This clip is one of my favorite moments in the movie - the look on the parents' faces is priceless.

Two Girls Arguing - Found Magazine, Intuit Gallery
Davy Rothbart (from Found Magazine) reads one of his favorite finds. Discovered by a janitor of a high school in Appleton, WI, this found note contains an argument between two girls, who passed the note back and forth. Davy's reading and presentation style are hysterical, and he's always a blast to listen to. This video was taken at a Found Magazine event at Intuit Gallery, in Chicago. Trivia Answer: In "The Maltese Falcon," How Much Money Does Sam Spade Actually Make?
Trivia Question: In "The Maltese Falcon," How Much Money Does Sam Spade Actually Make? $760. Here's the summary: 1) On hiring the detectives, Ruth Wonderly gives them $200 (in two $100 bills). This is split between Spade and his partner, Archer (who is found dead later, with one of the $100 bills in his possession). 2) Later, after Archer's death... Spade confronts Wonderly in her hotel and learns her real name to be Brigid O'Shaughnessy. On leaving, he demands all the money she has ($500). O'Shaughnessy hands him $400, claiming she needs something to live on. After learning she has things to sell (like her furs), Spade takes the full $500 but gives her back two bills. 3) In his office, Joel Cairo offers Spade $5,000 to locate the Maltese Falcon. As a gesture and a downpayment, he gives Spade $200. 4) I know what you're thinking. Wait - what about the $1,000 he got from Gutman at the end of the movie? While it's true that Spade kept a $1,000 bill "for his time and trouble," he promptly turned this over to the police, when he gave them O'Shaughnessy. So while he did receive money, he didn't end up keeping it. --------------------------- It all depends on what Spade gave to O'Shaughnessy at the hotel: two bills could mean $10, $20 or $40. My guess is that they were $20 bills, so the total number I have that Spade makes in the movie is $760. Anyone recognize the denomination of the bills in the hotel scene? Mechanical Singing Bird and (Creepy) Mechanical Dog at the Vintage Bazaar, Chicago
While attending the Vintage Bazaar in Chicago (May 14, 2011), I came across a fake bird in a birdcage. It took me a second to see the crank on the side of the cage, and to realize the entire apparatus was so that the mechanical bird could sing. Additionally, I wanted to capture a rather creepy looking mechanical dog, also featured in this booth. Video was taken at the booth hosted by Dethrose Vintage and Deth Corp Design (aka Jon Dethrow). Jon was kind enough to wind up the bird, when I asked if I could see it in action. I've got a much more detailed walkthrough on my blog, including lots of additional photos of the event: http://www.avoision.com/2011/05/15/vintage_bazaar_pilsen.php

Wag's TV Commercial: The Stir Fry Experts
An old TV commercial for a restaurant called Wag's (owned and operated by Walgreen's in the 70's/80's). I'm not sure how it happened, but our family got tapped to "star" in this commercial. Chicago Blizzard 2011, Day 2: Logan Square, Matt's Car
While walking around Logan Square on the morning after the big blizzard, I chanced into an alleyway and saw a guy digging out his car. Chicago Train Rearview Window
This is a video I shot while on the CTA Blue Line, in the last car, looking out the back window. I usually get on at the Damen stop, which then leads to the Division stop (underground). Usually, the back car is fairly full - and oftentimes it's a crapshoot whether the back area is locked or accessible. I lucked out today, as the area was clear and accessible. And there was some fantastic light outside, to boot. It's no Star Guitar by any means, but still a fun glimpse of the CTA. Linkits TV Commercial
An old TV commercial for a toy called "Linkits." I was part of the cast (I'm in the top left, in the opening scene). I also got to play an Eskimo (mostly, I'm guessing, because they already had an Asian kid cast). Nose Cam Video
I went to see an ENT doc (Ear, Nose, Throat), for some additional information about my sleep apnea. During the exam, they shoved a camera up my nose so that they could see how I was breathing. Despite the anesthetic they gave me, this was still a fairly unpleasant experience. The doctor was kind enough to let me film the whole process, as it was happening. But since I'm pretty squeamish about this stuff (even when it's me), I had my eyes closed while I was recording. Trying Out the Belt Massager, Take 2 Vintage - Vintage Bazaar, Chicago
While attending the Vintage Bazaar in Chicago (May 14, 2011), I came across an awesome looking belt massager at the Take 2 Vintage booth. I remembered seeing these vendors at the previous Vintage Bazaar a while back, when it was held at the Congress. At the time, I wanted to try out the belt massager... but couldn't find anyone to take video of me. I lucked out this time, as they had another machine - and I totally got my chance. Unidentified Worm in the Front Yard: What is This?
Spotted this guy in our front yard. At first, I thought it was a small leaf caught on a spiderweb. But on closer inspection, it seems like a really, really thin worm of some kind. The only distinguishing feature I could spot was that the body itself seemed black/dark, but the tips (the front and the end) were a lighter color - yellow or white. It looked way too thin to be an earthworm. My wife thinks it might be a tapeworm, but odd to see something like this on its own on a plant. The only other thing I can think of to mention is that there was a fairly heavy rainfall a few hours earlier. And the ground was quite damp. Totally stumped as to what this is. Anyone have any ideas?

Batman Album: Stacked Cards
The first story on a random album I found at Vintage Bazaar at the Aragon (June 10, 2012). Given the sounds of things, these are all original radio shows that were recorded and later pressed to vinyl. And now if you'll excuse me, I need to stop writing this description so that I can be free once again to pursue my dishonorable profession.

Sleepy Rabbit Fights Nap and Eventually Falls Over
This is our bunny Quincy, who is an older fella. Rabbits, when they get super sleepy, tend to just roll over onto their sides. It looks a little frightening at first, as though they just dropped dead. But this "flop" is just them succumbing to sleep. A rare thing for us to catch on video. I get a pass for shooting this in portrait mode though. Originally taken for Pericsope, so that's why it's shot in this terrible manner.

Justin Siddons Dancing on the Jumbotron, Bulls Game - March 11, 2011
Happening upon a random posting on Facebook, I learned that my friend Justin Siddons was featured on the Jumbotron during a Bulls game. Apparently, during some downtime... the cameras shifted to him, and he began dancing. In his words: "They left me up there for awhile so I pulled out all my gold moves!" Motivated by the desire to see this, I got in touch with some folks at the United Center. Sergio and Lina patiently listened to my request for footage, and were able to track Justin down based on a photo he had posted of himself, the night of the game. Though they didn't know him and didn't know which quarter he was filmed... they were able to find him. This is a small bit of awesome that deserves to be recorded for posterity.

Office Prank: Customized Email Audio Alerts
I came back to the office after being away for a week on vacation. I noticed that the headphones to my computer were unplugged, but didn't think anything of it.
