This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Do Steve Jobs and Nelson Mandela have anything extraordinary in common? Jamie Mason Cohen shows in this entertaining, thought-provoking and interactive talk that great leaders share some intriguing personality traits... in their handwriting! And what's more fascinating is that each of us also possesses some of these traits in the way we write too. What if, with some small changes in your writing strokes you could take your inner leader to its fullest potential? "You all have the power to lead, if only you pause for a moment to look inside your writing", Cohen says. It's a message with inspiring possibilities for us all. What others say: "[Jamie's] abilities are heroic and like a super hero, [he] uses them wisely. [He] has the ability to identify peoples' leadership qualities, 'promote' those qualities and send them away to be confident that they are the 'best' reflection of their handwriting." TEDxUBIWiltz Organizer, Dirk Daenen. Jamie Mason Cohen is a former film director turned high school teacher who once worked for Saturday Night Live. He is the recipient of the 2013 TED/Huffington Post international teaching award, The Sole Challenge, and a lifelong student of handwriting analysis. Cohen is an innovation expert in education who creates and applies 21st century creative learning strategies to inspire students and teachers around the world in the classroom and the conference room. Handwriting analysis gave Cohen, a shy, twelve year-old boy who was afraid of speaking in front of others the realization that he could express himself with words and that he had dreams to do it one day. From that day on, Cohen developed a passion for learning how a person's writing could reveal what makes them truly extraordinary. I made a video in March 2011 called how to draw a cool signature. It was really how to design a logo type of signature. Nearly 350,000 people have watched that video to date! Its obviously something that people have difficulty with. I know because they keep writing to me and tweeting and posting for me to do their signature for them. I can’t do your signature. A signature has to come from you. Start slowly and let your hand do what it wants to do. You may have to write your signature 5,000 times before you get it right! When you are happy with your signature, practice and practice until your hand can do it with out you having to think about it. That is when you have got your own recognisable signature. If you say you can't - it just means you can't be bothered to experiment and practice. Get a grip - just do it! lol :) With award winning illustrator, Shoo Rayner. This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. What is the future of writing in the digital age, and why does it matter? In this surprising talk, Master Penman Jake Weidmann explores the connections between the pen and how we learn, think, and carry our cultural heritage at a time when the very act of writing is being dropped from school curricula across the country. Jake Weidmann became the youngest person to receive his Master Penman certificate in July 2011. He works across several mediums including drawing in pencil and charcoal; pen and ink; painting in acrylic, airbrush, oil and gouache; sculpting in wood, bone, antler and clay; and is versed in numerous forms of calligraphy. He is best known for the integration of flourishing and hand- lettering in his art. Jake also designs his own hand-made pens. He, like his pens, travels the globe, reintroducing this Old World art form and cultivating its relevance in the world of today, of tomorrow, and forevermore. PLEASE SUBSCRIBE and SHARE with your friends! http://www.englishclip.com/ This video is to help students understand how a topic sentence works in a paragraph. It shows how the topic sentence controls the content and how the content supports the topic sentence. The vocabulary used in the video has been kept at an easy level, and the spoken rate is quite slow to help students to follow. It can also be used for teaching in the classroom. The volume could be turned down, and the teacher could just use the frames and supply his or her explanation. Some teachers get the students to use the color codes when they are writing. David DeWitt is a Certified Graphoanalyst. As such, Mr. DeWitt has spent decades studying, analyzing and interpreting the handwriting of countless individuals. Simply stated, he helps people to understand themselves, their personal strengths and yes, even their weaknesses through the way they put pen to paper. I have witnessed Dave practicing his science. The insightful results that he produces by viewing one’s handwriting are astounding, as well as personally and professionally transformational. His intentions are thoroughly altruistic. So, why should Graphoanalysis be of interest to you? ... In this book, Handwriting Analysis - Discover Your Own Vocational/Career Potential, Mr. DeWitt links handwriting analysis with professional satisfaction and instructs you in the analysis of your own handwriting. It is not uncommon for individuals to labor a lifetime in an occupation that they truly dislike or to which they are, at best, indifferent. Or they might move from job to job multiple times, desperately seeking a ‘career’ that is edifying. Moreover, young people just entering a sparse job market might find that they have little idea of occupations that could be personally and professionally rewarding to them. The ancient Chinese philosopher, Confucius, once stated “Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” ... Through this book, David DeWitt seeks to affirm this timeless advice. I endorse David DeWitt in his literary efforts and highly recommend this book to you. —John De Mado, John De Mado Language Seminars, LLC Author/Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, McGraw-Hill, Pearson

The "tuck and seal" is a common letterlocking category to survive in Western letter-writing traditions. The letter becomes its own envelope by tucking one side of the folded letter into the other. Variations of this category were used by regents, poets, writers, and the general public. In this example, warm sealing wax was placed between the folded and tucked area of the packet and a signet tool was impressed through the paper flap to create a papered seal, securing the letter shut and authenticating it. (See Vatican Secret Archives, Fondo Veneto, Sezione II, container 670, folder #3, letter sent from Tomaso di Livieri to Gesuati priests, San Girolamo di Vicenza, 9 July 1589). In other variations, the warm sealing wax was applied under and directly across the overlap where one side of the folded letter tucks into the other to create the letter-packet. The signet was impressed directly into the exposed wax. These two examples have little-to-no built-in security features. Letterlocking refers to the act of folding and securing an epistolary writing substrate (such as papyrus, parchment, or paper) to function as its own envelope or sending device. Letterlocking is a sub-category of a 10,000-year document security tradition, ranging from Mesopotamian clay bullae (8,000 BCE) to Bitcoin paper wallets (2009). Letterlocking also refers to the discipline which studies the technologies and traditions of epistolary security and privacy. Documenting the physical details of well-preserved original manuscripts has helped to define the different locking variations with their multiple levels of built-in security and their various authentication devices. The letterlocking categories may correlate to the sensitivity of the information contained inside. Produced by MIT Video Productions (MVP). Directed, and demonstrated by Jana Dambrogio, Thomas F. This is an update video of Nicol, showing what a difference ongoing support can make. I am a learning support teacher and made this video to create awareness for dyspraxia. Many teachers don't believe dyspraxia to be a real disorder and consequently children with dyspraxia gets very little, if any, support in the mainstream classroom. Difficulty in handwriting is only one of the many daily difficulties that people with dyspraxia have to deal with. Speech, co-ordination, general planning and time management are also affected.

Learn how to read, hand-write and pronounce the characters of Odia alphabet from this video. This is designed to keep non-native speakers in mind but it can be used by anyone. Please note that though there exists three variations of "s" (ସ, ଶ ଓ ଷ) in Odia, they all are pronounced as "so" (ସ). There is no long vowel in Odia and most words do not have conjunct pronunciations even though they exist in writing as an influence of Sanskrit and other foreign languages. Almost all the Odia words end with a vowel. "v" is pronounced as "bho" e.g. "vice" as "bhaiso" (ଭାଇସ), and "w" as "uo" e.g. "will" as "uilo" (ଉଇଲ). Odia (Oriya) is a South Asian language that is primarily spoken by about 50 million people in modern day Odisha, India, and in many other places in the country and abroad by the Odia diaspora, and as a second language by a few more millions mostly in the neighboring states of Odisha. It is one of the six classical Indian languages with a history of more than 5,000 years.
