SmartReview.com attended the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2015) to see Sony's latest Lens type mirrorless cameras. A lens style camera can stand alone, or be mounted to your smartphone. When mounted to your smartphone, you can see and control the camera as if you have a real DSLR. Pictures are send wirelessly to the cell phone, as well as being stored on the lens camera itself. The QX1 sets itself apart from the others in that it can mount many different lenses, just like a DSLR. The other models, QX10, QX30, and QX100 have a fixed built-in lens. The Sony QX1 is a compact camera with an interchangeable lens system. The QX1 works with both iOS and Android devices and has the benefit of being used attached or unattached to your smartphone. Using the Sony Play Memories App, your phone becomes a viewfinder and menu for adjusting camera settings. When you take a photo, it's automatically transferred to your phone so you can quickly share it on social media. In this video I review the Sony QX1 and teach you how to use it. This "Quick Tip" may seem simple to those who have been shooting for a long time. But for those who are just getting into shooting the simple question of the best way to hand hold the camera always arrises. http://froknowsphoto.com/the-best-way-to-hand-hold-your-camera-quick-tip The tip is simple, right hand on the grip, left hand under the lens not over with your elbows tucked. When you tuck your elbows you are giving yourself stability which should lead to sharper images. When it comes to how to shoot vertical there are two ways. Either your camera has a built in vertical release or it doesn't. If it do it's simple simply turn the camera so the shutter button is at the top. If you don't have one in my opinion the best way to shoot is to turn the camera so the shutter button is at the top not the bottom and tuck the elbows. If you follow these simple tips you should have an easier time getting sharper images. Ever thought about a large format camera for macro studio photography. This guide gives you a way of shooting macro or even Micro photography in a controlled environment. It also shows a guide on what to look out for when choosing a second hand Sinar Camera . Olympus is bringing its Air 01 Micro Four Thirds interchangeable lens camera to the U.S. and Canada in July. Similar to Sony’s QX1, the Air is a lens adapter designed to work with iOS and Android devices, with all the camera guts inside a compact cylinder, minus a display and traditional camera controls. The lens mount is compatible with 4/3 lenses from Olympus, Panasonic, and other manufacturers. The North American version will have its own app and support for Amazon Cloud Drive. Price is around $300 for the body only, or $500 with a 14-42mm lens. Don't Forget To Subscribe: http://bit.ly/1LxRhNO Cinema Lens Or Photography Lens? Just because it's cinema glass, doesn't mean you should use it. Sometimes we forget the reason why we need a piece of equipment, and how we are going to use it. For me, I prefer photography glass, because I'm usually a one man crew, or a crew of no more than 5. Focus pulling is a full time job, and for me, that just isn't an option. So, for me I choose photography lens over the big and beautiful cinema glass. Now, with that said, If I do have a bigger crew, and/or a larger scale project, actors, marks, scrips and so forth, I would for sure go with the cinema lens. The markings on cinema lens make them 100% easier to hit your mark. The extra aperture blades make the bokeh more round and creamy, and there's just something about a big piece of cinema glass in your hands that makes a cinematographer cry. So, before you rush out and purchase that cinema prime, ask yourself "Do I really need this?" "Will this add value to my story?" "What type of shooting will I be doing?" I have to thank the guys over at TV Specialist Inc. for all their help and equipment. I take a look at a 17 Year Agfa CL50. And It ain't pretty. The Agfa CL50 represents what cameras used to be like in the 90s. Digital was totally different back then, unlike film cameras which had pretty much started peaking around the year 2000. Presented by Canon With over 70 lenses to choose from in the Canon EOS System, how does one make the right choice? In this video, presented by Canon USA’s Rudy Winston, gives you valuable insight on choosing the right lenses for your needs. He shows you how similar lenses differ from each other and explain why others are more expensive. Rudy helps simplify the choices, and furthermore gives you sound advice on how to get the best possible images with different types of lenses. He explores the options and the power of Canon’s wide-angle, telephoto, and special-purpose lenses. And the emphasis for this Seminar is on the lenses that are priced within reach of most photo enthusiasts, rather than exotic lenses that can be very expensive. If you're a low-budget or independent filmmaker, chances are that cinema lenses are out of reach for most products. Veydra is attempting to rectify that with their Mini-Primes, beautiful lenses made for Micro 4/3. But have too many compromises been made to make them this size and cost? Link to this Canon T5i / 700D on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1zUpqSP Essential Accessories for the Canon Rebel T5i / EOS 700D: Canon T5i Case: http://amzn.to/16tGQUX Canon T3i Spare Batteries: http://amzn.to/1cuLpEt Canon T5i Remote: http://amzn.to/1eYDQZM Canon T5i Lenses: Canon 40mm f2.8 Lens: http://amzn.to/1egOrix A less expensive alternative: Canon 50mm EF F1.8: http://amzn.to/POJXUQ In our review of the Canon T5i, we look at the image quality, handling, build quality and video quality of the Canon T5i. Today we’re going to be looking at the Canon T5i, arguably one of the most versatile crop-sensor DSLRs on the market. The Canon T5i is also known as the 700d in markets outside the United States. So lets take a closer look at the Canon T5i/700d. On the front of the Canon T5i body, you have the flash release button, the lens lock release button, a depth of field preview button. On the center of the front face you have the mirror and the 18MP APS-C sensor that has been carried over from the Canon T4i. And these are both surrounded by the metal EF lens mount. To the left of that are the self-timer assist lamp and the remote control sensor. And slightly above this is the shutter button. On the right hand side of the Canon T5i body is the SD card slot. On the top right hand corner you have the main adjustment dial and the iso button. Slightly below those are the on-off switch with dedicated positions for still picture and video mode. And the main mode dial. To the left of the that is the hot shoe and the stereo microphones. And right next to the mic, facing forward, is the pop-up flash. You also have the two metal strap mounts on the top face. The rear face of the Canon T5i has the focus zoom buttons on the top right hand corner with the button for movie recording and live-view to the left. Below that is a slew of buttons you will find in almost every DSLR. And all the way at the bottom of the Canon 700D, you have the playback and delete buttons next to the access lamp. On the top of the rear face of the Canon T5i is the optical viewfinder with its tiny dioptric adjustment knob. And to the left of this are the menu and info buttons. And last but not least, you have the Canon T5i's most versatile feature: the 3 inch articulating touchscreen which tilts and flips. Great for recording yourself and taking shots from almost every possible angle. The left edge of the Canon Rebel T5i (700d) body has the AV out port and and an HDMi out port. To the left of this is the wired remote port and the extremely handy mic jack. This is very essential if you plan to use an external mic for better quality audio. On the bottom of the Canon T5i is the ¼-20 tripod mount and the battery compartment which fits Canon’s LP-e8 battery pack. Unlike the Canon T4i and T3i, the Canon T5i (Canon EOS 700D) comes equipped with an 18-55 mm or 18-135mm STM or Stepper Motor kit lens. The Stepper motor lens is extremely quiet when focusing and was designed to work with the camera’s servo AF for video. The focus and zoom rings are also noticeably smoother on this lens, while the focus selector and image stabilizer buttons are still located in the same place. The Canon T5i will also allow you to mount any Canon EF mount lenses, if you decide to expand your lens collection. As with almost every modern Canon DSLR, the grip on the Canon T5i is near perfect. The Canon T5i handles well and has rubberized surfaces to enhance your grip. The build quality is practically identical to the Canon T3i and T4i - Solid and well put together. The quality of the screen is also excellent. The screen on the Canon 700d is bright and sharp enough to use outdoors and the menu items are all intuitively laid out. The menu system has been carried over from the T4i, but that’s not exactly a bad thing. The touchscreen on the T5i makes navigating the menu, changing settings and setting focus points a breeze. Definitely a worthwhile feature. In terms of image output options, you can shoot pictures in different JPEG sizes, RAW or output both JPEG and RAW files simultaneously. The autofocus when taking stills is surprisingly fast even in the live view mode and gets even faster when using the optical viewfinder. The STM lenses also seem to make focusing a much quieter process.
