Panasonic GH4, although if you like the footage I'm filming I owe it more to the lenses I use, invest in good lenses, not an expensive camera. Please don't think that my videos are great because of my camera. The camera you use is only a tool. I could use other cameras and still tell a good story, different cameras enable different possibilities, not a better video or story. The footage does not look like it does in the finished movie straight out of the camera. I go through a process called Color Grading. What lenses do you use? I primarily use a Voigtlander 25mm F/0.95, Nikon 35mm F/1.8, and a SLR Magic 12mm F/1.6 (My camera has a crop factor of 2X so 25mm=50mm etc..) These are all manual focus on my camera, auto focus is never used when making movies you see in the cinema. How do you stabilize your footage? Cheap Tripod, Cheap Monopod, Glidecam HD4000 What do you edit and color grade with? Final Cut Pro X and I use Color Finale within FCP sometimes along with Impulz and Osiris LUTS. I could edit what I edit in iMovie or Premiere or Vegas, it's not the Editing Software, it's the Editor. How long does it take you to edit? Not very long, well most videos I can edit within 4-6 hours, anything more than that and it's mostly minor details and polishing that I just take my time with. Depending on the project it can take days or weeks though. (Editing is my jam) How do you come up with your ideas? Well I have a bunch of ideas written in my Notes app on my phone that just come to me, sometimes I'll just get an idea and I'll be like "yes!" and I'll just execute that idea as soon as I have it, I don't like dwelling on ideas that I can execute with what I have at that moment. How old are you? I am 18 Where did you learn filmmaking? Nowhere, taught it to myself from the internet and practice, lots and lots of practice. I started filmmaking in April or May of 2015 (can't remember well) if that's any help showing how much practice can help you improve! Do you go to film school? No. I'm going to film school in London in October! Film school can teach you the process of making films, but it can't teach you how to tell a good story or be creative. You have to do that yourself and I like to think that you can see that in action on my channel. I don't need someone to give me something to make as homework in order to make a film, I just go out and create, and get better and better because I practice constantly. You won't become a great filmmaker because of film school, you'll become a great filmmaker because you dreamed of, worked for and went out and made great films. (I don't know if you can tell but I really believe film school is not necessary, beneficial yes. But it's how much you put into it.) Where do you live? Texas (Want to get out of here though) Moving to London in October/September Have another question? Just ask me in the comments or email me or message me on social media, I try to respond to everyone :) Am I awesome? Yes, yes you are. If you read all this let me know in the comments :)

How to write a good essay: Paraphrasing the question

14:39
Do you sometimes struggle to begin writing an essay when taking an exam? Good news! There is an important writing skill that will help you improve your essay introductions. This technique is called "paraphrasing", and it means rewriting something using different words. In this lesson, I will teach you how to paraphrase successfully and how to change essay questions into your own words. These skills are very useful for university and high school students, as well as any students writing English proficiency exams like the TOEFL or IELTS. TAKE THE QUIZ: http://www.engvid.com/how-to-write-a-good-essay-paraphrasing-the-question/ WATCH NEXT: Essay Writing – 6 ways to compare: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8WSzwBD7GQ TRANSCRIPT Hi, there. My name is Emma, and in today's video I'm going to teach you something very important for if you're taking any type of test that has a writing component. So, if you are taking the IELTS, the TOEFL, the CELPIP, even just a university test, it can be any type of test, but if you're asked to write something like an essay or a paragraph, this video is for you. Okay? So I'm going to teach you a very important skill that will help improve your marks when it comes to writing on tests. So, let's get started. So, I have here an essay question. This question is actually... I've seen it on the IELTS. You know, you have similar types of questions on the TOEFL, sometimes in university. The question is this: "Education is the single most important factor in the development of a country. Do you agree or disagree?" Or maybe: "To what extent do you agree or disagree?" So, this is an example of a question you might be asked. Now, a problem a lot of students have is in their answer to this question. They see this, and they think: "Okay, education is the most important factor in the development of a country, yes, I agree." So then they... Or: "I disagree", and they start writing. And what do they write? Usually the very first thing students will write is this: "I agree that education is the single most important factor in the development of a country because..." So, what is the problem with this? Is there any problem to start off your essay with something like this, or to start off your answer? There's a big problem. So I want you to take a moment and think: "What could be the problem with starting your essay off with this sentence?" Okay, well, if you noticed, you have here the word: "education, education, is, is, the single most important, most important factor". If you notice, these are the same. They're the exact same, except for: "I agree that" and "because". The student, here, has used the exact same wording that is in the question. So, if you do this on the IELTS-and many students do this, same with on the TOEFL-you actually will lose marks, and same with in university, because you're not showing your abilities; you're just copying what somebody else has said or what the essay question is. So, in this video, I'm going to show you first off... First off, I'm going to tell you: Don't do this, don't copy. And I'm going to teach you ways in order to improve yourself and your answer by changing this wording. How can you change your introduction so it's different than what the question is? Okay? So, let's look at how to make these changes. Okay, so what we are going to do in order to change the question into a proper answer that doesn't just copy the question, is we are going to paraphrase. So, the word here is: "paraphrase". This might be a new word for you. What does it mean to paraphrase something? Well, when we paraphrase, it means we take a sentence that, you know... We take somebody else's sentence and we change it into our own words. Okay? So, we change the words of a sentence, we also change maybe the sentence structure, but we keep all the same meaning. Okay? So, the meaning from the sentence you copy, it stays the same, same meaning, but different words and different sentence structure. Okay? So it's in your words, but this other person's meaning. So, we are going to paraphrase this example of a question into our own words. So, first we're going to look at how to do that using vocabulary and synonyms. So, we have here the same question: "Education is the single most important factor in the development of a country." How can we put this into new words or our own words that keep the same meaning? Well, we can use synonyms. So, this might be a new word for you, too. A "synonym". "Synonyms" are words that have the same meaning, but are different words.
The History of Writing - Where the Story Begins - Extra History

How did the ancient civilization of Sumer first develop the concept of the written word? It all began with simple warehouse tallies in the temples, but as the scribes sought more simple ways to record information, those tallies gradually evolved from pictograms into cuneiform text which could be used to convey complex, abstract, or even lyrical ideas. The temples which kept people together were not only religious places, but also warehouses which stored the community's collective wealth until it was needed to get through lean years. As the donations came in, scribes would count the items and draw pictures of them on clay tablets. The images quickly became abstract as the scribes needed to rush, and they also morphed to represent not just an image but the word itself - more specifically, the sound of the word, which meant that it could also be written to represent other words that sounded similar (homophones). Sumerian language often put words together to express new ideas, and the same concept applied to their writing. As people came to use this system more, the scribes began to write from left to right instead of top to bottom since they were less likely to mess up their clay tablets that way. Those who read the tablets didn't appreciate this change, so the scribes rotated the words 90 degrees allowing tablets to be rotated if the reader preferred - but this made the images even more abstract, until eventually the pictograms vanished entirely to be replaced by wedge-shaped stylus marks: cuneiform. Many of Sumer's neighbors adopted this invention and helped it spread throughout the region, though completely different writing systems developed independently in cultures situated in places like China and South America! ____________ ♪ Get the intro music here! http://bit.ly/1EQA5N7 *Music by Demetori: http://bit.ly/1AaJG4H ♪ Get the outro music here! http://bit.ly/23isQfx *Music by Sean and Dean Kiner: http://bit.ly/1WdBhnm

How to identify a Dreamer with a Big Imagination from Handwriting Analysis Graphology

The reason is that they have a vivid imagination which gives them ideas (sometimes far) beyond the realms of reality. But since they also have goals up in the clouds, outside what most would consider possible, they look on their dreams as goals and try to achieve them. Once in a while, they will be successful. However most of the time having unachievable goals just makes them feel like underachievers, even although they may indeed be achieving a great deal. It doesn’t match up to their goals / dreams though, so they may see it as failure. Anyone with this combination of traits, who wants to achieve, could consider lowering their goals to achievable level. Using handwriting to help, this would involve lowering the t-bars to touch the top of the t-stem, thus connecting to reality. The imagination does not need to be changed unless the writer wishes. By changing your handwriting, you really can change your life. You can remove traits that you don’t want to have around, but just removing them from your writing and replacing them with something more positive. Or you can add personality traits by adding the appropriate strokes to your writing. Do just one at a time. Keep practicing a few minutes a day until this becomes your natural way of writing – about 5 – 10 minutes a day is good. Once it is your natural way of writing, you can choose another trait and start working on that. The beauty of doing personal development through handwriting is that if you start to slip back into your old ways, it shows in your writing before it starts to affect your behavior, so giving you a chance to strengthen the new trait again by practising the stroke you want again until it stays naturally once more. This is an amazingly powerful way of becoming who you want to be. Try it. What do you have to lose? At www.HandwritingAnalysisBooks.com you will find short, snappy, fun books to help you identify which strokes indicate which personality traits, so you know what to change. You can change your handwriting and change your life. Often just understanding the differences can make a huge difference to how people get along. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdjKXmrfXD0&feature=youtu.be I'm Fiona MacKay Young and I hope you enjoy finding out what you can tell from handwriting. In this video you will learn how to identify the traits of pride, vanity and independent thinking these three traits are here together because they show the same stroke they all show in the height of the stem of the lower case T. First we’ll look at pride. This is good pride. It's not the type of pride that goes before a fall. It's a type of pride that makes you do good work, take care of yourself and make the best decisions you can. Pride shows where the start of the lower case t is approximately twice the height of the lower case letters. It doesn't matter where the T crossbar is or even if there is one. What are you looking at is the height of the t-stem. The next is vanity. Vanity is pride that has become a bit overblown. You tend to exaggerate your abilities and your other good qualities. Vanity shows when stem of the lower case T is more than twice the height of the lower case letters. Again ignore the crossbar and you see in the example here the stem of the T is a lot more than twice two-and-a-half times the height of the lower case letters. The higher the stem, the more the vanity there is. Next we’ll look at independent thinking. The independent thinker is not a rebel. If the way things are being done they will to go along with it. But if they don't like the way things are being done, they'll be quite ready to step out and do their own thing, usually regardless of what others think say or do about it. Independent thinking shows where the stem the lowercase T is less than twice the height of the lower case letters. It's not uncommon to a mixture of these traits after all no one is likely to be vain about everything - at least we hope not. You also may take pride in some things but bot be too concerned about others. So just check what writing about as each trait appears and this will give your clue as to how you feel about yourself in different areas of your life. So that's it for pride, vanity and independent thinking. So pride shows in t stem twice the height of the lower case letters. Vanity shows in the t stem more than two-and-a-half times the height of the lowercase letters and independent thinking shows in a really short t stem that's less than twice the height of the lowercase letters. So that's it for pride vanity and independent thinking from practical handwriting analysis .com Write On! How to become happier - change your handwriting and change your life. In this video you'll find out how to identify from handwriting the desire for physical activity. The desire for physical activity shows in the lower case P. it shows where a lowercase P has a loop. The bigger the loop the stronger the desire to be active. So smaller is a mild desire and the large loop is someone who has a much stronger desire to be physically active. Smaller lower case (also lowercase, small letters, or more formally minuscule) in the written representation of certain languages. The writing systems that distinguish between the upper and lower case have two parallel sets of letters, with each letter in one set usually having an equivalent in the other set. The two case variants are alternative representations of the same letter: they have the same name and pronunciation and will be treated identically when sorting in alphabetical order. Letter case is generally applied in a mixed-case fashion, with both upper- and lower-case letters appearing in a given piece of text. The choice of case is often prescribed by the grammar of a language or by the conventions of a particular discipline. Lower case a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z The glyphs of lower-case letters can resemble smaller forms of the upper-case glyphs restricted to the base band (e.g. "C/c" and "S/s", cf. small caps) or can look hardly related (e.g. "D/d" and "G/g"). Here is a comparison of the upper and lower case variants of each letter included in the English alphabet. Case styles In English, a variety of case styles are used in various circumstances: Sentence case "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" A mixed-case style in which the first word of the sentence is capitalised, as well as proper nouns and other words as required by a more specific rule. This is generally equivalent to the baseline universal standard of formal English orthography. Title case (capital case, headline style) "The Quick Brown Fox Jumps over the Lazy Dog" A mixed-case style with all words capitalised, except for certain subsets (particularly articles and short prepositions and conjunctions) defined by rules that are not universally standardised. The standardisation is only at the level of house styles and individual style manuals. (See further explanation below at § Headings and publication titles.) In text processing, title case usually involves the capitalisation of all words irrespective of their part of speech. This simplified variant of title case is also known as start case or initial caps. All lowercase "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" A unicase style with no capital letters. This is sometimes used for artistic effect, such as in poetry. Also commonly seen in computer commands, and in SMS language (avoiding the shift key, to type more quickly). Improve you handwriting just by holding your pen differently! Better cursive handwriting in minutes.

03:01
(WATCH IN HD) The pen used throughout the video was the Faber Castell Basic, F nib. It's a very nice smooth nib, especially considering it's a fine nib. Other pens that appear in the video: Pilot Parallels, Waterman Hemispheres, Noodler's Nib Creaper, Lamy Safaris, Italix Parson's Essential, Some old Parker. From a young age we are taught to hold a pen incorrectly: between our first finger and the thumb. This is a good way to hold the pen when learning how to write, as it is easy and doesn’t require much thought, although the best way to hold a pen is actually to have it resting on top of the knuckle of the first finger. This is the hold used by calligraphers was originally how scribes in the middle ages used to hold a pen. This hold allows a much more fluid motion when writing as the pen is in the perfect angle for writing in a cursive italic hand. Initially holding the pen like this may feel unfamiliar, but you will see an immediate improvement in your handwriting in just minutes of practice. When I first started holding the pen in this way I noticed how easy it was to write whole words without lifting the pen from the page at all which is extremely useful when writing in cursive. Mystic Graphology Introduction : Part 2

05:26
Graphology does have a mystical side. Every letter has certain formations. Each formation has a meaning. A combination of letters makes a word which can have a unique graphological meaning. Most of us have names chosen by our ancestors and this plays an important perspective role in our lives. Knowing how each letter combines can help us understand our life path better. Your own name shows your own life path. You last name (surname) is your family life path. If you like to include your father’s or mother’s name whenever you write your full name, their life paths also come into affect. This affect may be positive or undesirable depending on the persons experiences and understanding of life. Check your own name and perceive the hidden mystic meaning. This exercise can be done even for brand names, company names and any aspect in your life that has a name. If you are an advanced Graphologist you’ll be able understand your perceptions better. Knowledge of these perceptions can help you transcend causality and encourage true spiritual evolution. For more details visit us at www.facebook.com/graphologic

How to Write the Perfect Essay

09:12
***FREE download of one of my successful Harvard essays: https://ivyadvise.com/p/welcome Writing the perfect essay is like drawing the perfect circle. Meaning that no matter what you do you'll always end up with a zero? No, meaning it's impossible, but with the right tools, you can get pretty darn close. You guys requested it, so I thought I'd share some of my best tips and tricks for writing essays. I've been writing essays for almost two decades now, so this video is a long one. Strap yourself in and get ready, 'cause this is about to be a ride. Also, the first essay format I give you comes from my French education on writing essays (i.e. start with a question, develop your ideas, answer the question, open essay up to new question). The second essay format I give you comes from my American education on writing essays (i.e. state a thesis, argue your thesis, restate your thesis). I'm partial to the French way of writing essays, because I think it makes more sense for life (i.e. you have a question you want to answer, you try to answer it, when you do you move on...). However, the American way of writing essays can be helpful for trying to argue a point. Write the way that you think will best suit you in your given circumstance! Paragraph 4 - **Develops idea of life as a contradiction: Art class is my exploration of another side of life. Paragraph 5 - **Develops idea of life as a contradiction: This "other side of life" has inspired me create simply for my own pleasure. This mindset has seeped into other areas of my life. Paragraph 6 - **Develops idea of life as a contradiction: A dream of mine is to create a charter school--this dream stemmed from my exposure to academic life. Seemingly unrelated, art nonetheless has been crucial in helping me understand how to make that dream a reality. The Hardest Writing System! - an animated rant about learning Japanese

07:11
Japanese really does have the most complex writing system in the world. Here I spell out its history and my struggle to learn it. Subscribe for language! https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=NativLang * TLDW? * Forget what they told you about other writing systems - writing Japanese is ridiculously hard! When I started to learn the language, they hit me with one syllabary after another: hiragana, then katakana. But those didn't set me back much. Kanji on the other hand... See, you may have heard that kanji are symbols for words. Nope. I found out they're more like playing a game of charades with a really bad teammate who gives you vague hints combined with obscure sounds-like clues that are way out of date. Join me next time to find out exactly what it was about kanji that really pushed me over the edge. * CREDITS * Art, animation and narration by Josh from NativLang. Some music by Josh, too.
