Thank you for sharing. I did Maui and Oahu two years ago in same fashion like you describe. I will babe returning in January. Wall Mart is a great tip. I stayed in a couple of hostels. They were very good. One was close to the beech & had free surfboards. I also brought my own snorkel. Happy Travels. :))

Hi me and my gf are camping on Kauai next week, but we rented an suv so we can sleep in the back in case of bad weather. Did the rangers have any problems with you guys sleeping in your car? Are there specific permits given for your car?

Very helpful. My fiancé and I chose Kauai for our honeymoon and your video helps!

David Tovar thanks for the feedback! We weren't sure if it was useful to anyone since it was our first video. Let us know if you have any questions for planning your trip.

What was your bad experience couch surfing? Just curious. I've never tried it but thinking of giving it a shot.

No Mud No Lotus ...that's a really crappy creepy experience. I thought there was a vetting process that keeps the weirdos out (kinda like airbb).. I hope you reported him...sounds like a true nutball. I've had some aggressive women and even gay guys come on pretty strong while traveling before, when I was just trying to not be harshly rude to them, yet they keep trying even after making it clear that they're barking up the wrong tree...so I guess I kinda understand, but women have to deal with that kind of crap from desperate men on a much more regular basis. Sometimes certain people just don't get the hint till you get a bit stern/rude. (And even then they still don't always get it;) If i was a female traveler I think I'd carry mace at all times. I've had to choke out a few drunken idiots in my life, but I'm 230 lbs and have no problem scrapping. Anyhow...Scary story. Definitely bring a travel buddy next time. Keep the videos coming...you'll build a following!

For a man, it may be a different experience, but to read my whole experience check out this blog post: http://nmnl.ca/australia-sydney-couchsurfing-nightmare/ - I would try it again but only if I had a friend Couchsurfing with me as well and to let people know where I was.
