Take a diaper box and jute twine to make an amazing home organizer! You can find jute twine at any craft store, but it's usually cheaper to buy online in bulk to make lots of boxes. Oh how I wish we had your dollar tree shop over here. We have pound shops but the stuff they sell is pretty tatty. Nothing like the quality or range that you're has. I went to our nearest one and looked for "Organiser" type stuff. I came out with some make-up brushes, washing up liquid and spray bottles.

Love it! I found some white clothes line from the dollar store (100 yds each) and hot glued it the same way looks very cool... Gonna make a slightly bigger one next time.

Have you ever used the jute from Uline? I am thinking I may be making quite a few of these plus using jute for other crafts, so I could either get several of the Dick Blick ones at $2 each, or Uline has 10 lbs (3,700 ft) 4-ply for $23. The weights do seem pretty drastically different between the Walmart/Dick Blick ones and also the Uline/Dick Blick... the Dick Blick 10-lb one is 1,420 ft. compared to Uline's 3,700. Perhaps even though they are both 4-ply, each individual ply is thinner/lighter for some of them? Trying to get the most bang for my buck, but also want them to be good quality and not too skimpy or thin.

I absolutely LOVE this idea! I am taking out my dresser drawers to make it open shelving and then storing my clothing in bins - I want to use the water hyacinth ones I saw on the Container Store website and there was also a version I liked on the Ikea website, but it could get super pricey - so now I think I will get just a few of the hyacinth ones for accent and make these easy jute ones for the rest and save myself a lot of money! Loving your videos!

Did anyone purchase the Twine from the link in the Video Notes? And if so how did it turn out? I been trying to figure this one out. Ok so on the website they have the 4ply Jute Twine for $1.99 But it says it weighs 4.4 Lbs for the Tubes and is 162' But then i found the exact one in the Video at Walmart: $4.77 Craft Designer Jute, 4-Ply, 1 lb, 135', Natural ok so they are both 4ply but the weight and the footage just doesn't add up. 162 - 135 = 27 so the Blick 4 ply is only 27 feet bigger but weighs 3.4 obs more? But they are both 4 ply Sorry I don't know twine very much so any help to understand this would be great Thank You

I already love your channel so I was super excited to see this pop up. I am so making this and I think I might add some pretty fabric inside just to fancy it up. Great idea thank you so much for sharing!

I used the wrapping brown paper with a paisley design on it to do the same thing. I wrapped athletic shoe boxes with their lids to organize things in my office for school. While working on my thesis I had so many empirical articles printed out that I could not keep them in a pile. I sorted them according to the specific reference area that I was using and labeled the box. The brown wrap is so cute and generic enough that it doesn't really have a decor theme and the print is small enough that it works with anything. I had one little show box that I used for small things right by my desk, binder clips, paper clips, pencil, sharpener, earphones, index cards and other odds and ends that had no where else to go. It took no time and was and easy wrap. Those twine wrapped boxes are nice enough to use in a family room, living room or other formal area.

https://www.pinterest.com/pin/218917231864505230/ I did this with a large diaper box but I put material on the inside. I cut the material to the size I thought would work but had LOTS of extra material once I attached it to the first side. SO, I gathered it up on the sides and met it on the back in the middle with the gathered pleats and it turned out fabulous. ;-)

What a great idea. I've been wanting to do something like this and you just nailed it. May I suggest if anyone doesn't have a diaper box or Amazon box that they can get a priority mail box from the post office and it's FREE. The problem with FOOD BOXES is they attract bugs. Thank you for a fabulous video.

I now know what I'll do with some of my boxes from our move. My husband of course made me throw away most of everything but I snuck and kept a couple boxes that I'm going to store in my craft room (it is my space afterall, hes got no business in there lol) and this is the perfect project for them ! Thanks for the idea.

Milesy Family (3 years ago)
I've got some left over baby formula tins when when my kids were little.  I've always figured that they'd be great for storage, but never knew how to cover them.  I'm thinking that this idea would work on them too.  Great video :)
Adreanna Rios (3 years ago)
It'd be good to hit it with a light coat of brown spray paint first, also, if your box is super brightly colored. Not a perfect coat, just enough to knock down the brightness. Awesome idea!! They look great! I work at Michaels so I know how expensive those baskets are haha.
Do It On A Dime (3 years ago)
+Adreanna Rios For sure!! Haha, I was secretly comparing them to the Michael's baskets ;)

Awesome we'll try this because I need 2 boxes for my nights fun and they are quite expensive but this will look great and will be so cheap
Karen Louder (3 years ago)
nice job. I too have done this but I got a can of flat black cheap walmart spray paint and painted mine first so it doesn't show any of the label from the box and I get lots of compliments from family and friends. Its amazing how easy things are too make but also having a little extra time and patience. TFS :-)

Dang! This is so clever ! Thanks for sharing this . You have the best ideas. Going to make 3 of these today.
Michele (3 years ago)
When you put the label on it, it really looked like a $30 store-bought basket then.  Really pretty project!
Leigh Taylor Ellis (3 years ago)
This is great! What a great way to get just the right size and shape "basket" you need or want. I also have so many tins that I have trouble tossing, but could be more useful and decorative if covered this way. Thanks!
Golden Rainbow (3 years ago)
Aloha from Hawaii!!  OMG, this is such a clever idea to repurpose old diaper boxes...I too recently recycled my diaper boxes to use as pull out drawers in our cubbies but instead I used duct tape...I love this look so much BETTER!!!  Thank U for sharing!

Do It On A Dime (3 years ago)
+HayleysWIFESTYLE This would be SUCH A cute look. Good luck! xo!
LadyTrayce (3 years ago)
I think I would probably take the extra step of painting the outside of the box brown or black if it was brightly colored...just in case my wrapping was imperfect or sometime in the future some of the jute loosened or fell off.  It's a fabulous idea and looks amazing! I love a custom, expensive look on the cheap! Thank you!
