Hi Melea 🙂 Thanks for the budget travel tips. Even though I don’t always stay loyal to one hotel chain, I do sign up for their rewards programs. Just like a vacation savings fund, eventually those points will add up. 🙂
God Bless! 😇
Thank you so much for giving this tip. This is so useful for me cause I'm still a student and travelling is one of the best thing and my dream to do. You really help and gave me an video Thank you so much
Italy and greece are great !! We are from Australia and are visiting LA in October and Las Vegas with our kids and are doing the whole disney thing complete with birthdays and wedding anni's :) so excited
My husband wants us to go to Tokyo in 2020. He originally wanted to go to the Olympics, but I'm trying to convince him that our first overseas vacation to a non English speaking country maybe shouldn't be at a crazy busy time. I'm probably more interested in seeing Japan than he is anyway, and I would rather be able to actually do things. I haven't done a lot of planning yet, but I hope we can stay for a few weeks and travel outside Tokyo as well. Our next big trip after Tokyo will probably be Sydney, but we haven't decided when. If I can talk my husband out of the 2020 Olympics then we'll probably go to the LA Olympics instead, which I still consider a big trip since we're on the east coast. We went to LA and Disneyland last year and airfare was so expensive we had to drive to Atlanta to catch a more affordable flight.
My husband and I are planning to take our kids to Yellowstone this summer. Thankfully we're close enough to drive. One thing that a friend of mine does is they will actually eat in the hotel for breakfast (if the hotel doesn't have a free breakfast then she will actually buy cereal and stuff to eat in their room) and then they pack a lunch to take with them. Something to remember is that you dont' have to go to some big location to do a vacation. You don't have to pay thousands of dollars. If all you can save is $50 a month that's still $600 at the end of the month which is enough to do a 3 day vacation (2 nights in a hotel) as long as your driving and smart with your food money.
I LOVE google flights! Travelocity, expedia and websites like those have special deals that are a package deal. Travelocity was my favorite because they have deals under $400. They usually have a set number of places, like Las Vegas, Florida, New York, Mexico, etc. So these packages include flight and hotel. I think the lowest I saw was Orlando for $250 a person that INCLUDES flight and hotel. That's so cheap! The only downside is that the dates are set in stone, so you can't change that, but if you're not picky about that then it's a good deal. Check it out, sometimes they have really great deals on there for all over the U.S. Like you said, rewards are always a must, there's so many websites and places that offer rewards are so many purchases. Ebates is also really good, I think they had a 25% cash back on a specific travel site I can't remember what it was though lol. Machu Picchu and Barcelona are my idea vacation spots. I WILL find a cheap package and go this year or next lol! Your video was great, you have great tips, check out those package deals maybe you'll find something you like even to Mexico! lol
Great tips!!! I always want to go to Italy because I'm from there and I love to go see my family but also Italy is amazing! Our next trip might be Peru'. I have family that just moved there so that's a plus and I really want to go to Machu Picchu.
We would love to go to Costa Rica for our honeymoon! What do you think about Costco Travel? They seemingly have good deals some with all-inclusive options but I'm not sure we'd be getting the best bang for our buck.
I would love to go to Japan, Korea and do a trip through Europe. I'm lucky I live in Europe and plaintickets can be pretty cheap like 10 to 20 euro's for traveling inside Europe. I'm a highschool student going to college next year so traveling to Japan and Korea will come later.
Melea!!! I know its expensive but do a disney cruise!! Navigate it and give me your awesomr tips! Other cruises are also welcome if family friendly!! Youre awesome!! Great tips! Its like investing in family time!! Love it!!!
Extravagant vacationing just isn't feasible for a single college student, even though I'm working 30+ hrs per week. A lot of my money goes towards my figure skating expenses. I can't even afford an apartment. My parents have worked hard all their lives and raised 5 children, but they could never afford to take us to somewhere like Disney world. We went to Sea World once every summer and that was our big special trip. I was always very appreciative of that. But at 21 years of age, I've never been out of the country or even to most of the states. I really want to see the world and explore the different amazing cultures and take in all the beauty that exists far and wide before I die. Hopefully in 2 years I'll have my degree and be able to start my career and save up to travel the world! We'll see.
I would love to hear ALL your tips on ways to save on traveling!! So YES to more videos!! We want to take our kids to Oahu!! Are there specific credit cards that you would recommend getting that offer the best point system for flights and hotels?
I want to go to Ireland and the Atlantis in the Bahamas! Those are my two top places that I would love to go. Also, I’d love to go back to Colorado for an extended vacation. I went twice in one year and I would move there if I could.
Question. When you save 10 percent of your income. Is that like 10 percent of what you bring home (like after taxes are taken out) or is that 10 percent of of pre taxed income? Kind of a lame question but I am just adjusting some goals.
Hope this isn’t too intrusive but what credit card were you referring to bc I think that’s AWSOME that I can use the credit card and get travel perks bc me and my fiancé are wanting to start traveling more often
Melea, your money-saving tips are always fantastic and SO achievable! Thanks girl! My husband would LOVE to visit Ireland and I would be ECSTATIC to go to France! My daughter and I are going to Disneyland in June for her 23rd bday! We've been saving since September. I save all my tips from work (dog boarding kennel!), can/bottle recycling money and any loose change we end up with. She saves $50 a paycheck! We've already purchased our hotel and plane tickets that way! No credit card debt for a vacation! Yay! =D
Gail Abert--- Hey there Gail! Thank you so much for the extra tips! My daughter's bday is on 6/20, so we'll be in the parks from 20-22, heading home the 23rd. I know we'll just miss the opening of Pixar Pier--buuuut we are MEGA Disney fans and we try to visit each year on either her bday or mine!! We could bump it all forward and start our 3 days on the 21st, but for us just being IN Disneyland ON our bday is the most MAGICAL part! <3 <3 But next year.....watch out DCA!! =D From one *Disney Gal* to another---Thanks again! c=
Thank you so much Melea! We're so proud that our daughter has followed in our thrifty footsteps! With groceries, rent, finding free stuff to do in her town and more...and she's proud of it! My husband and I recently agreed that cool things just won't happen without a plan. We gotta set our minds to it and keep our eyes on the prize! This debt free Disney trip is gonna be that much sweeter for us gals!! = D
Kelsey D, I hope you're going in late June. Pixar pier is under construction at DCA and is set to open June 23rd. Right now there is a lot of constuction going on at both parks and at Downtown Disney. Check out You Tube as there are a few people who do weekly updates. Hope this helps and have a great time!! (I go there 2-3 times a year myself!)....Gail......
Just love your channel... always so many great tips and ideas on saving on anything! I was wondering, I'm going to Kauai, Hawaii (yea!) in April. Any tips for saving $$$ on activities (sky diving, parasailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, etc)? Of course, we're doing the freebies (hiking, beaches- all I can think of now). Thanks bunches!!!
