These are my top ten tips to budget for your vacation or holiday adventure, backpacking or otherwise. Including easy things like a daily travel budget, to finding the cheapest accommodation and travel, using price comparison websites, budgeting apps, and generally being a thrifty person. There’s also a difference between a travel budget and budget travel. Saving money on one thing costs money in other ways and end up being a massive rip off - shop around! There’s places you can work abroad - cheap destinations like in Europe especially if you’re doing Europe on a budget. This video’s not meant to be a definitive guide to budgeting or a trip budget planner, it’s just my advice following my solo backpacking adventure. If you’re on vacation or backpacking around the world, let me know, I’d love to hear from you! Send me a pic or message. How can you just work somewhere without your home country checking where you're getting that money? Unless you're doing a working holiday, isn't it illegal to just earn money in a different country?
Josephine L (3 months ago)
@Backpacking Bananas Oh guess I didn't pay attention enough! Thanks for replying :)!

I was in Barbados and I really wanted to swim with the sea turtles but it was very expensive and a guy trying to sell us tickets pointed to where the boat was where the turtles was and it was very close. We already had snorkeling gear so we just swam to the boat and it was all free!

I don't think I could ever not budget. I'm from a poor country and I make approximayely €2.33 per hour so actually even the cheapest motels/food/activities/bus or plane tickets add up REAL quick.

Budget is most important part of any trip planning. Planning is very crucial especially when you are going to a place which you haven’t visited before. Thanks for sharing wonderful tips about budget planning, this will help many like me.

Katy O'Brien (3 years ago)
Heyy! I am going to Oz in December - I am wondering what you rweckon about booking hostels. I don't want to pre book them all as I don't want to tie myself to a certin place etc. but I am worried I'll get there and there will be nowhere to stay! What's your opinion? Thanks!! xxxx
Katy O'Brien (3 years ago)
+Backpacking Bananas okay cools, thanks a lot :) hope you are enjoying NZ xxx
Backpacking Bananas (3 years ago)
I'd pre-book your very first hostel and at the least. If you know where you're heading on certain dates, then go ahead on book others but if not don't stress, making reservations when you're there is very common! :)
Seems like i was in that room, or a really similar one, like 4 months before you did...weeeeeiird!! Nice channel :)
Pops Last Fiasco Run (3 years ago)
Great video :) I am so bad at budgeting while I am travelling!
winonaclift (3 years ago)
Hey! Which hostel are you working in, is it relatively cheap? Going to travel around Oz next year beginning the end of June! 😌 thank you x
Backpacking Bananas (3 years ago)
+winonaclift Hey! It is Base Backpackers, it is not the cheapest but not bad considering it is right in the middle of the CBD! Cheaper hostels tend to be in Kings Cross/Potts Point which are suburbs close to the city :)
Ji Hu (3 years ago)
Thank you. Your video do solve many of my question. Wish me luck for my trip next month.

+Ji Hu Good luck!!

Amazing what you do! In from Holland and I'm 14 years old. I'm dreaming about backpacking all over the world. But I can't wait, is there something I can do already? Do you have a tip to do something that I can do now? Thanks!
Backpacking Bananas (3 years ago)
+Bas Wouters Hey Bas! That's so amazing you have the travel bug already! I guess at this point you could just start researching the places you want to visit the most and make a gigantic bucket list! And you know, the earlier you start saving, the better, so if you have a job, just set some money aside that will go towards your travels :)

I know this is a bit of a silly question but when I get to Sydney I'm also hoping to get work in one of the hostels. How did you go about getting it? Did you ask them face to face if any jobs were going or? Thank you for your videos by the way, they are so helpful & informative!!x
Backpacking Bananas (3 years ago)
+mary “mares” rose I literally just walked into about 10 hostels I liked the look of with my CV but the one that hired me just did so on the spot! :)

How do you recommend carrying your money? I'm going to aus for three months and I'm not sure whether to take a lump sum of dollars or just withdraw money as I go?

Thanks this is really helpful, perfect for my upcoming trip :). I would add the budgeting helps you enjoy those extra specials. When I went around Asia I was saving as much money as possible. I do have memories of penny pinching when there was no need for it :(
Alina Kutscherenko (3 years ago)
