as a born and raised native new yorker, my beloved city has changed. you have transplanted people all over the world telling people where to go and eat a 4 dollar and up slice of pizza. if you are a tourist, listen to them. the real food are in real neighborhoods of n.y.c. great food at affordable prices await you in upper manhattan, the bronx, queens, brooklyn and staten island. malecon manh. skyline diner manh. don pancho the bx. deninos pizza s.i and the tropical carribean queens ......what in the hell is tribeca, hamilton hts, dumbos lolita? renamed neighborhoods from yuppies, hipsters and transplants. wtf.....well nyc was once a really great city!!!!! when the number 2 trains was the beast and the deuce was the real 42nd street!
Im so glad I found your videos. I am from Orlando, Florida and have never been to New York, but plan on going to visit a friend this year. I would be lost for sure as I am a native Floridian and have hardly traveled out of state.
We came here thanks to your video on our first night in NYC, staff were so lovely and we had great free pizza and bingo night too! Thanks so much for the heads up. Your videos were a great way to plan. :-)
Going to New York with my fam in June. Your videos are amazing! First videoblogger who actually show step by step how to do things or go to places
love your video about the transportation from the three airports!
Thank you so much for your helpful tips. I’m a middle age divorce going to New York City for the first time with my childhood friend-also a divorcee. You’re adorable, easy to understand, and full of excitement for your city. Thank you!! Giselle from miami!
Not exactly New York, but if you'll ever find yourself in Ternopil, Ukraine, just look for a place called "The Old Pizza House" (Стара піцерія). For just a dollar, you'll get 2 small pizzas and a glass of juice. This place is very popular among students looking for a deal.
The only downside is that you're probably going to end up in a hospital with food poisoning. But hey, it's 2 pizzas for $1!
NY pizza is Neapolitan pizza. The big thick rectangular stuff is Sicilian. Not to start any trouble but if your pizza slice ain't a wedge you can fold in half and walk down the street with the olive oil dripping into your hand, then you don' have a New York slice!
Can u please make a video of cheap places to eat for no meat eaters, or places where they have a gluten free menu. Also, i know ill save money because I dont eat junk food and I dont drink alcohol, but i do go to bars
Hi Sarah, do you know of a good place to get a reasonably priced & tasty pastrami sandwich in NYC? Never tried pastrami before. I saw a video for Katz, but it seems very expensive at $24-$25 per sandwich.
Astoria is on my list of places to visit next month in NYC, definitely going to visit the boroughs as well as Manhattan - Ditmars Boulevard is the last subway stop on one line and there's a park by Hell Gate railroad bridge which I want to photograph(one of my fave movies, The French Connection was shot in part there, on Ward Island) - I might just drop into Los Portales! Another video I've enjoyed watching and making some notes from, as I will be on a budget! El Sabroso appeals to me as well - a truck loading dock? Interesting. In Kuching, Malaysia, there is a restuarant literally on top of a multi story parking lot six floors up(only way up is by elevator or stairs in the parking garage) and it's cheap and the food is superb!
Thanks so much for your straight-to-the-point useful videos that will most def help me plan my next NYC adventure...XOXO from Tel Aviv! If you are here, I can show you cheap and good places here, as TLV is also darn expensive...
Wow great deals going on but I'm just going to pass on all those restaurants after being exterminator for 15 years service in Manhattan Queens and Brooklyn most places I will not eat or even drink a glass of water
We land in NYC tomorrow and we will defo be checking a lot of these places out. What I found really useful was the titles at the side so I could just take a photo them and when we get there I can just see the info straight away.
Thanks for sharing Sarah.
I find it so difficult to understand the tipping process. It's not as easy as "15 to 20%". I don't know when it's expected, some workers are caught by surprise when I tip them, I have no idea how to tip when I'm paying a very cheap thing like 2 dollars (I will give 40 cents to the person? Isn't that too low and weird?)
It's pretty simple. If you have a waiter or are ordering alcohol from a bartender then you should tip. If there is not waiter then you don't tip. For each bar tender drink leave a dollar. Does that make sense?
