That fuji gfx 50 would be great. Fantastic medium format.
Brian Torreon (7 months ago)
Yes, I will definitely keep note of that location :) Unfortunately, after I posted that comment I went to Best Buy and tried out the Sony a7 cameras and I compared it to the Canon 6D ii. After much comparisons, Best Buy staff bugging me, and contemplating I decided to return my 6D and my Canon lenses. I preordered the Sony a7iii. OMGAAAAWWWDDD! :)
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Haha Brian! Yup with that set up you're good for very long time! Hit the Tori Gates in Kyoto too, awesome & no one early morning. The higher you go the less people too! Thanks for the kind words! See you in the next episode!!
mixxinmel (7 months ago)
I would be looking for a Sony A7iii. With a MC 11 adapter for My Canon lens.
Brian Torreon (7 months ago)
#1. I just bought a Canon 6D (my first full-frame camera), 24-105L mm ii, and a 17-40L mm. All I need is the 24-70mmL ii and I'm good for the next 10 years haha! #2. Japan is on top of my list for my next travel destination and I'm definitely going to that location when I go to Japan I love you content Pierre! Keep it up :)

A lot of camera shops in Ginza too
Pierre T. Lambert (6 hours ago)
True!! ps: new video is out! Enjoy!! https://youtu.be/IlHgNdS1-OU

Everyone should be buying second-hand on eBay. There is no reason to buy brand new glass at full retail when you can get next-to-new on eBay for a fraction of the cost. This goes for both lenses and bodies (as long as the shutter count is low).
Pierre T. Lambert (21 days ago)
Very true! Second hand glass is worth it! not much can go wrong vs camera bodies! Ps: new video is out! https://youtu.be/csBDl85I69A Enjoy!!

Does somebody has any news about Sony lenses 2019? Is a new 35 mm prime gonna come out ??😍😍😍
Pierre T. Lambert (23 days ago)
not sure yet!
davide tarozzo (24 days ago)
I m an owner of a7r3 and 24-70 2.8 and if I was there in yodobashi i d love to buy zeiss 35 1.4 or also I’ll be happy with sigma 35 1.4 Btw never regret a moment with my 24-70 :) seems to turn around with a rocket launcher, it’s heavy and not discrete but I absolutely love it
Pierre T. Lambert (23 days ago)
haha yes it's so versatile the 24-70!!
ACID SNOW (1 month ago)

2:54 pause " Omae wa mou shindeiru " I was there yesterday, (watching your videos while I'm in japan), but they have the same cameras, they didn't change anything till your last visit lol 24mm 1.8 Zeiss APS-C vs 28-70 3.5 Full Frame, I need a wide angle for vlogging but I don't know what I should take exactly because i like to film bats at night .. and 3.5.. But Zeiss is it really worth ? Or it's crap ? (Sony A7S)
Ruban Rouge (1 month ago)
Pierre T. Lambert nope no new gear everything is exactly the same except a new Sony gear that can resist to dust, sand, and water. Thanks for the answer :) Like your videos, keep up the good work !
Pierre T. Lambert (1 month ago)
Hey Ruban!! Oh really they don’t have new gear?! Haven’t tried Zeiss yet! My friend has the 16-35 and likes it :-)

Hey show us the prices even
Pierre T. Lambert (3 months ago)
Sure! Next time :)
michael s (4 months ago)
At the price point of medium format,it's Fuji and Pentax which are making strides, especially Fuji, with huge sensors and great images.Fuji is mirrorless and medium format for the most part, and Pentax is APS,One FF camera, and ONe medium format offering. All the info is on the websites, reviews, and competent camera shops. A good combo???....Sony ariii,Sony A9,Pentax kimk2,Fuji XT2 or something else,Nikon D500,Fuji medium format,Pentax 645 Medium format..I would stay away from newer Sigma glass..Irix ,Rokinon,Canon,Zeiss,Minolta,Pentax, some Nikon, and some foreign glass...
mike burns (4 months ago)
Sigma 35 1.4 is my next lend purchase. I'm saving for it now. It's super super sharp.

How about 2nd hand lenses shop in Japan??
Pierre T. Lambert (4 months ago)
Hey! Didn’t check this time - makes for another trip :)
TonyStayStyleN (4 months ago)
Steve McCurry only uses the 24-70 for 98% of his work! Me too! its awesome because you don't have to change lenses because you have the best focal lengths in one lens which makes it extra easy to capture the moment also you reduce weight and options because you only have to carry one or two lenses. I have a 5d mark III 135mmL and the 24-70mm L for street photography.
Pierre T. Lambert (4 months ago)
100% Agreed! If I wasn't doing the videos the 24-70 would be on for ever haha :D See you in the next episode!
Jon Paul (4 months ago)
Camera shop envy! I'd spend so many $$$ in there. Yes pls make a video on file management, my biggest issue is storage and backups while on the road.
Pierre T. Lambert (4 months ago)

Addiction will destroy any passion, even if we continue. It's important to accept that gear cost money, and that it will never change, and find all the reasons for why we should continue. It's a matter of simply finding one truly good reason, and dare to jump in with both feet, and build on from the last success. We all know excuses bring us down, and how easy they are to build. That's why, by time alone, it will feel harder. No reward without risk, and that's equal to any human being who has ever lived. Move into what you want, as an individual.
Max Slater (6 months ago)
Is gear cheaper in Tokyo
Max Slater (6 months ago)
Pierre T. Lambert Wow I wouldn't of expected that, thank you for your reply!

I personally love BIC Camera shop in Tokyo. It had everything I might want from photo/video/electronics/watch store. They also had a very convenient tax-free and significant discounts if you pay by VISA (don't remember for sure, something like 10 percent off for just VISA)
Pierre T. Lambert (6 months ago)
Thank you Eduard for the kind words :) New video just got released! Hope you'll enjoy!

Pierre T. Lambert (6 months ago)
Salut!! N’hésites pas si tu as d’autres questions :) Bonne journée !!

Hey Pierre! would you like to send me a camera? i have a passion towards photography but yes money is the problem! i have around 600 usd with me if you can do something
Grey (7 months ago)
Complaints about grips are so pointless. You can add a custom grip. Then people can get the grip that matches them.
Pierre T. Lambert (6 months ago)
Hey NoJiGrey! Thank you for watching! True, always a backup option :) Personally I don't like adding grips makes the camera bigger, but I see how it helps :) Have a great day!

Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Ahh Taiwan!!! Toooop! J’adore!
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Heya!! Ahhh top Hong Kong!! Tu as raison Fuji est totalement à part!! On les aime pour ça :)

Michael Friedman (7 months ago)
I also have the 12 - 24 f/4 and it is an awesome lens but I rarely use it. Perfect for YouTubing though...
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Oh nice! Landscape mainly?
Michael Friedman (7 months ago)
I have a 24 - 70 G master. I use it more than any other lens probably because it is so versatile and still pretty damn sharp. Now days I use my 55 1.8 Zeiss and my Sony 85 1.8 mostly for portraits though... but for travel the 24-70 is pretty much perfect if you could only bring one lens. Stuff I want right now... uh, a Leica M7 with Summicron 50mm f/2 to replace my Canon F1.
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Thanks Michael!! Yes makes sense to use that 24-70 for travel! So much more versatile indeed! Ha Leica!!! See you in the next episode!

Although, I truly respect your viewpoint on a smaller camera, and the massive amount of work that Sony has done to push mirrorless forward, a lot of pros at events that I attend don't use mirrorless and aren't interested in making the switch, due to the cameras size. A lot of pros and obviously I don't mean all look at the size as a problem and don't look at them being able to handle extreme conditions like the example that you used with the Olympus on display and you said that the Sony had failed the water test. A lot of pros don't upgrade often and want gear with a proven track record and look at gear as an expense that will pay for itself and not something that they are upgrading every year. A lot of pros look at cameras as tools to create their vision, like an auto mechanic uses his tools to fix a car, not something to look at and admire, but an ends to an end. They want great support in place for them, like Nikon and Canon have where they can call from around the world and have their gear swapped out if needed and get quick turnaround. Shooting landscapes in extreme conditions like snow isn't something that I would even consider taking a Sony in, due to size and reliability. YouTube is a great place for all products and on YouTube, mirrorless is king. Sony has made tremendous strides as many other mirrorless, but in the field at the pro events, DSLR is still king due to its very size, support and reliability and this isn't coming from someone who doesn't have access to a mirrorless camera as I my wife has a Sony A6000 because she doesn't like big DSLR. Great glass is something that you can't make small and it sticks off of the camera taking away some, but not all of the size advantage. Even medium format is a large camera. When you do videos like this keep it even handed by showing the different items , which you did, but stay away from comments like it's too big, because it shows bias in this case toward larger cameras when your larger purpose was to show the camera store itself. The most important thing is for photographers to get out and use their gear and shoot. That part of the world has massive stores for small market electronics like stereo equipment i.e. HiFi. Thanks for doing this. For video only, I would probably due mirrorless and have used the A6000 due to size, for photos only, I would stay DSLR. Sony lens are more expensive than Nikon or Canon and finding it used forget about it.

Hey Sid! Thanks for watching and sharing! Absolutely agree with you. If I were doing only photo I’d have stayed with my previous gear - the Nikon D750 - amazing tool imho. For video I couldn’t use it so for a while had two cameras. Then switched to Sony because they had the best compromise so far. Switching to a 1Dx for traveling wasn’t possible for me - the weight was a problem for my bag :-/ And yeap I felt DSLR to be more reliable over all. Less bugs maybe? I’m really impressed by how far mirrorless is pushing it nowadays and can’t wait to see Nikon and Canon get in the game with their years of experience!! Oh and yes the second hand market for Nikon and Canon lenses is sooooo nice!!! See you in the next episode!

Thanks for sharing your shopping trip. I was in Tokyo last May and didn't get a chance to go to that store, seeing your video made me miss Japan. I definitely want to go back some day. I loved Shibuya but got so caught up in walking the crosswalk that I didn't take the time to get any good shots. Oh well, just means I need to go back.
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Hey John!! Thanks for watching mate! I totally feel you! When I went first time 12 years ago I knew I had to come back!! Too many good things to shoot view and eat! Japan’s awesome :) See you in the next episode!!!

nice stuff mate, it feels like i'm in the supermarket. PS: for cheap drones you can check www.banggood.com or www.gearbest.com those are Chinese sites but they have many cheap gears you can buy. lastly those last shots were amazing it just gave me an idea to shoot something like that in India. Thank you keep it up :)
ktmrcbiker (7 months ago)
of course and will tag you too ;)
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Thanks man! Oh cool! Share the pics when it’s shot :)
Pierre !! ♥♥ yes, do a Vid on Hard drives memory cards etc. Beautiful shots. Thanks for taking us shopping :)
I was almost going to get an Atomos Ninja Inferno - you're correct on the SanDisk SSD prices - but I wasn't sure about switching them in and out. Maybe down the road. Hey looking forward !!
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Hey Tommy! Thanks mate! Cool adding it to the list then!! Files and hd are soooo important!! :) See you in the next episode!

I walked into that same store last year to get a new strap for my a6000, and ended up spending half the day just trying on different lenses and ogling at all the gear. I'm going to upgrade to the a7iii relatively soon, and wanted the 16-35/2.8 to go with it, but haven't really seen that combination featured on youtube or other photo sharing sites. Have you by any chance had a chance to pair those two? I know your results with the a7riii are incredible, but I wanted to see how close the a7iii comes to that. Great video. Can't wait to go back there this year.
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Hey Dead Texan!! Thanks for watching. Omg yes I could have spent way longer too!! I haven’t tried with the A7iii and 16-35. Seeing how it works with the R3 I can only think it’s going to be as good! Wow from a6000 to a7iii it’s going to be day and night! :o when is it arriving? :) See you in the next episode!

Love it! All the lenses!! For sony. That 28mm looked really, really nice. I buying one right now on sale for limited time. Great specs on Dxomark. Just as sharp as the 85mm GM lens has bad CA but that’s with pictures the videos look amazing on it essentially with an ND.
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Hey Charles!! Right?! I was suuuuuper impressed looking at the footages. I’m definitely adding that to my bag when I don’t live out of a suitcase anymore haha. Are you getting the adapter for fish eye too? See you in the next episode!
Laurent Magnin (7 months ago)
In Japan, you should definitely look at second hand cameras and lenses... Is it still around Shinjuku Station in Tokyo that you can find most of the small stores that trade a lot of used stuff?
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Hey Laurent! Yes!! Didn’t have time to go and forgot - good reason to go back!
Central Avenue Media (7 months ago)
A7III for me! Great video!

Great vlog, Japan looks great for camera buying! The Fujifilm GFX 50s is indeed a medium format mirrorless camera at 51.4 megapixels it should cover most styles of shooting.. Hasselblad has the X1d .
SoundsandImages (7 months ago)
Pierre T. Lambert no worries, looks like a store that could easily overwhelm the senses! The x1d is a marvel of engineering but the Fuji has all the controls to hand..
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Saw the Hasselblade there didn’t film :-/ Thanks mate! See you in the next episode!
Tomislav Miletić (7 months ago)
Fuji GFX50s. But I'll have to rob the bank first :D
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Haha yes. There was a Hasselblade too 😆 See you in the next episode!

You are becoming more and more popular!! I am very happy for you. BTW, I use a Sony a7 as well as a Fujifilm X-T2, which I love. Love your videos of Japan. :)
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Thank you Roger! You’ve been around as long as I can remember! :) which one is your favorite? Ps: are you on instagram?

Awesome video!!! I WISHED I was into some level of Photography back when I use to live there in 1998. That intersection in Chiba by the train station can be very intimidating if you've never been there before.
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Thanks mate!! Haha yes the first time must be insane. And I can’t imagine if you come from the country side you must go crazy :o
Christian Comes (7 months ago)
haha, those shops! the first shot in the crossing was great! the gf50 is medium format, a bit bigger than FF, more for studio people. I would have from that shop the 85 1.4 for Canon so I put it on the speedbooster for portrait
Pierre T. Lambert (7 months ago)
Hey Christian! Thanks for watching :) cool will be sharing on IG today the shot. Definitely could imagine that camera in a studio!!
