Please watch: "The ONE Thing Every Christian Should Be Doing But Most Are NOT!"
THE SHOCKING TRUTH ABOUT TONGUES
What does the Bible teach about this gift of speaking in tongues? That’s what we are going to talk about today on the BEAT.
Hey what’s up everyone my name is Allen Parr and so today we are tackling the touchy subject of speaking in tongues. What is the gift of tongues? What are some misconceptions of tongues? How should it be used in the church?
What is the Gift of Tongues?
1) The gift of tongues originally was the supernatural ability to share the gospel in another known dialect without the speaker having previous knowledge of this language (like me speaking Japanese) – Acts 2:1-12
2) Some also believe it is the ability to speak and/or pray in an unknown language.
So What are some of the Misconceptions?
1) Everyone can learn to speak in tongues – The Bible teaches that tongues is a spiritual gift. It also teaches that the Holy Spirit is the one who distributes spiritual gifts to believers AS HE WILLS. So just like any other gift you cannot choose your gifts they are given to you. So I don’t how a Christian can learn to speak in tongues any more than they can learn to possess the gift of pastoring of healing or miracles.
2) The second misconception is…People who speak in tongues have more spiritual power than those that don’t – I don’t see anywhere in Scripture where a person who spoke/prayed in tongues was able to accomplish more spiritually than those that didn’t.
a. This type of mentality merely divides the church more than it already is into the haves and the have-nots and makes those that don’t have the gift feel inferior.
How should this Gift be used in the Church?
1) There must be an interpreter – So if you’re in church and everyone is speaking in tongues Paul says, what if someone who isn’t familiar with the gift or an unbeliever comes in? (Put yourself in their shoes) They will think they’ve just entered into a crazy place. (14:23) So the question is, “Why would you want to take a chance of offending, confusing or turning off an unbeliever from church simply because you feel the need to speak/pray in tongues in church?” Which is why Paul said, “I CAN speak in tongues but IN CHURCH I would rather speak in a language that EVERYONE can understand.” So even Paul said he doesn’t speak in tongues in church unless there is a KNOWN interpreter present.
2) Experience should never contradict Scripture – Sometimes people will say, “well I just felt the Spirit.” Saints, the same Spirit who empowers us to use our gifts is the same Spirit who inspired the writing of the Bible and He cannot contradict Himself by leading you to have an experience in church that goes against the writing of Scripture.
Finally, because a Christian’s view on this subject has nothing to do with salvation.
It is my prayer that your views and experiences with this will be based on scripture
Always remember to be sensitive to unbelievers when in a church…
Finally, be careful not to adopt the mentality that people who have the gift are more spiritual or more powerful than those that don’t.
I would love to know your experience with this as it relates to the church so please leave your comments below I’d love to hear them.
We should be focused more on exemplifying the fruit of the Spirit than we are with the gifts of the Spirit.

Hey everyone, I really need to say something that is on my heart. It is after midnight here and this is heavy on my heart. As I am reading some of the comments on this thread it is becoming very clear to me that the enemy is using this topic to further divide the church. We must always remember that his goal is to get us to argue back and forth on these issues that really have nothing to do with our salvation and distract us from what we really should be unified about, which is sharing our faith and encouraging and edifying other believers. Please know that even though I disagree with some of these comments, it doesn't mean that I love each of you any less. Also hope that even though many of you disagree with the stance on this video that you respect me and know that we all love the Lord and we are all fighting against the same enemy. As you comment further, please keep this in mind, and please continue to respect others as you comment on this very controversial issue.Thank you,
@Randall Floyd the problem with Christian Believer is you read and study man books, and study churchianity history, And never never never sitdown and study with the help of the Holy Spirit his Holy scriptures. The Holy Spirit Jesus said in John 14:26 he will bring all things back to our remembrance, he is the teacher
So pastor, teacher are to be teaching under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit otherwise when it comes to a brother like me who the Holy Spirit taught I will expose your lie, dishonestly, ignorance, and blindness.
READ THE SCRIPTURES and not men's books fill with commentaries, paraphrased, theories that are unscriptural.
. I study the MASTER not my pastor.
THE BEAT by Allen Parr. Quote " very clear to me that The enemy (SATAN) is using this topic to further divide the church ".
. It began with you my brother.
1. It's not now that satan been fighting speaking in tongues .
2. So when people like your self is unlearn or unbelieving on the subject of speaking in tongues satan use their ignorance and cause DIVISION.
Brother Allen I honestly think you meant well and want to teach the truth of God. But the scriptures says "study to show your self approve unto God a work man that needs not to be Ashamed rightly dividing the word of Truth.
. Listen to the word Ashame. That is exactly what happened to you here now that I'm pointing out your misquoting of scriptures and if you have dishonesty in your heart you are not going to admit that you are misquoting is wrong.
I noticed this post video been up about 2 years and was brought to me by one of my sons who the scriptures because of his upbringing in my household and when I listened I was very very very turned off by these ignorance and misquoting of scriptures.
Because if I never thought my children they would listen to you and run with your unbelieving doctrines of speaking in tongues.
Please my brother I put my number here feel free to call it and anyone who have the Spirit of God and want to grow in Christ. 9176403420. Grace PEACE in Jesus Christ!
1 Corinthians chapter 14
▪︎First and foremost Love
Is what we follow after.
OBEDIENCE IS THE EVIDENCE OF LOVE.
. LOVE ALWAYS EXPRESSES ITSELF IN GIVING. God so Love the world that he gave his only begotten son. If WE SO LOVE GOD WE must OBEY HIS WORDS.
so if we truly Love the Lord we should Obey his every word.
Then Desire spiritual gifts.
Verse 1. Follow after charity (AGAPE LOVE), and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
. Tongues + interpretation = prophesy.
Like 2 nickel equal a dime.
This is a simple, fundamental gift.
18. I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: (PAUL IS SPEAK OF HIS PRIVATE AND PERSONAL TIME WHEN HE IS BY HIMSELF)
. This why he said be not drunk with wine wherein is excess, but be drunk with the Spirit. That is why Paul was able to have so much Revelation of the scriptures and in order for us to understand a drunk man we to must be drunk by the Spirit. I'm speaking from experience myself. 9 FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT Galatians 5:22 is for living life, INDWELLING of the Holy Spirit, while 9 gifts of the Spirit 1 Corinthian 12 is for services in the church, public.
19. Yet in the church (NOW HE IS SPEAKING OF PUBLIC SERVICE, ASSEMBLY WITH THE BRETHREN) I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. 👈🏾(VERSE 26 compliment this verse. Coming together)
21. In the law it is written, (EVIDENCES & PROOF >OF THIS TONGUES BUSINESS WAS WRITTEN FOR OUR LEARNING. Isaiah28:11, Isaiah33:19) With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.
(WE ARE GUILTY OF NOT OBEYING GOD).
22. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, (TONGUES, SIGNS AND WONDERS ARE FOR THE UNBELIEVERS, SINNERS)
This is what happens in Book of Act 2:5-12. NOTICE THEIR BEHAVIOR AND WHAT THEY SAID 👉🏽verse 7,8😳😳😳😃😃😳😃
but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. (PROPHECY Serves THE CHRISTIANS, again the coming together of the brethren)
23. If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, (THE UNLEARNED OR UNBELIEVERS HERE IS CHRISTIANS; There is Born again Believer who is unlearn, that don't believe in speaking in tongues. Therefore for a teacher in the body of Christ teaching against the gift of God he is in grave danger, he should SHUT UP, UNTIL HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. ) will they not say that ye are mad?
24. But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
(WE SHOULD COME TO CHURCH PREPARED, STUDY UP, CHARGE UP, BUILD UP SPIRITUALLY BY PRAYING IN TONGUES according to Judge vers 20.) Can you explained Roman8:26????😳
26. How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. 👈🏾😳
33. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
39. Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. (HOW PLAINNER CAN YOU GET?. F O R B I D N O T TO S P E A K W I T H T O N G U E S 👈🏾OK!🤨) Let all things be done decently and in order.
JUST OBEY THE SCRIPTURES.
MARK16V17. If you believe in Jesus Christ YOU SHOULD PRACTICE THE WORDS, SPEAK IN TONGUES, PROPHESY AS WELL AS TITHES AND OFFERINGS, WASHING OF FEET, BAPTISM IN WATER, COMMUNION, FORSAKEN NOT THE ASSEMBLY OF THE BRETHREN, CAST OUT DEVILS, LAY HANDS ANOINTING THE SICK FOR HEALING, James 5:14-18.
Thank you and God bless you.
1 Corinthians 14:1, 18-19, 21-24, 26, 33-33, 39-40 KJV
@Teddy Campbell thanks for taking the time to share your views on church history of misrepresentation of the gospel our Lord Jesus Christ. I'll check out the video clip.
▪︎ I'm going cutt and paste the most important verses of 1 Corinthians 14.
In another comment
Marshall WOne Hey bro, I understand where you are coming from and as believers we have to righty divide the word of truth. Literally make a cut or dissect the word to really understand it. And only the Holy Spirit can reveal truth to us. With that being said, the bible is one rabbit trail after the next and it will continue you on a journey for revelation until the Lord returns. Hopefully we as believers will one day be able to have our senses exercised to discern the good and evil teachings that have been passed down to us by those who have taken scripture out of context and have built doctrines on them. Heres a rabbit trail for you to consider going down. Check this sermon out and may the Lord lead you into ALL truth. Happy hunting! 😇👊🏾 https://youtu.be/ZnMpQp-HqTA
First I got saved then I got baptized in water, full immersion, many years ago now. That same night when I went to bed I prayed in bed. I heard a sound near one of my ears. It wasn't a wind sound really but a definite sound for sure. I started babbling (for lack of a better term) because I wanted to, then I went right to sleep. When I woke up I was very excited and I could babble whenever I wanted to. It took a few days for me to calm down. I'm forever changed since then. Don't ask me to explain it. It's just my experience.
When you receive the HolyGhost you speak in tongues this God speaking through you as a witness to you and others that he is now living within you. Now the gift of tongues and the interpretation of tongues is a spiritual gift that one can have after receiving the Holyghost. They are two different things. Everyone that receives the Holyghost will speak in tongues "Acts 2:38-39 (KJV) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call " it's a promise. "Acts 2:4 (KJV) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." But the gifts of the spirit is a totally different thing. "1 Corinthians 12:8-12 (KJV) For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ."
I think this video is a bit negative about tongues but I also think it makes many good points. There are two reasons to pray in tongues. 1. The first is for personal edification, especially where you don't feel you know what to pray yourself. This allows the Holy Spirit to pray for you. 2. In joint worship - here it depends on the church. Some do accept personal praying in tongues in services, but the rule is the one given in the video - there should be no (loud) tongues in church without interpretation. I especially like in the video that it warns against the teaching that all Christians must speak in tongues and that those who do are more spiritual. Paul says we should seek the greater gifts like words of wisdom or words of knowledge or preaching. What we really, really, really need now is the power of the Holy Spirit to fall on, not only our churches, but on our communities and nations. So many countries that have been known by His name - that have been known as Christian countries have turned their backs on God and are living the consequences. Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring conviction of sin and judgement and that setting things right will only come by individuals being made right through Jesus.
I recently left a ministry that extremely pushes that speaking in tongues is evidence of being baptized in the holy Spirit, like stated in Acts 2. This short, but thorough teaching is great!! God bless you!!
I did speak in tongues im not a believer but this views is so human. Only spirit can speak and understand the language of spirit. I thought everyine has this gift but later found out not everyone has the gift of the spirit. Im lucky i guess. But there's no point in trying to prove this to anyone
Talking In Tongues Are A Great Gift 🎁 Between U & GOD!!!! If A Person Dont Know How To Talk In Tongues 😝 GOD Still Love You!! And Loves 💘 The World 🌎. All We Have To Do Is Be Real With GOD... And He'll Be Real With Us To The Very End.. 🕊 🌈 🕊 🌈.
If the Holy Spirit led you to teach this YouTube video how he led you contrary to his writing scriptures and have me here wondering who leads you if it's the Holy Spirit or "cemetery" ooop! I mean seminary?
Paul never never never said "hey I thank God I speak with tongues" quote the scriptures correctly. This is you cemetery training problem.
I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
1 Corinthians 14:18 KJV
Stop misquoting scriptures.
You doing just like the sinners do.
This is why I doubt you are ever save my brother.
Always quote the scriptures exactly how it is written.
Paul says I speak in tongues more than you all and he wrote 90% of the new testament more than Peter, James and John And YOU also MY UNLEARNED BROTHER. WAKE UP.
IM NOT BEING RUDE IM SIMPLY BEING BLUNT, RADICAL WITH THE TRUTH OF THE HOLY WRITTEN WORD
He is mixing up the 1 Corinthians chapter 12. DIVERS kinds of tongues that work as the Holy Spirit will with 1Corinthians chapter 14 unknown tongue as the believers will.
What ignorance dear God bless his heart and ignorant head that you put brains in it instead of water.
The Bible NEVER TEACHES THAT SPEAKING IN TONGUES IS A SPIRITUAL GIFTS; again you either lying or you ignorant. You might not even Born again. Because Jesus Christ said it is given to us to understand the mystery of God so how you don't understand it uh?????
The very first thing he said was WRONG that it was the original gift NO CHAPTER VERSE TO PROOF GIFT OF TONGUES. . taking from the book of Act2 that is not unknown tongues. MIXING UP UNKNOWN TONGUE according to 1 Corinthians 14 . T
Can I ask an honest question? I am about to start this video. What brought me here was my dream last night. I had a dream a woman was at my front door, trying to come inside. Despite her desperation and how scary she became as I resisted, she needed to be invited in to enter. As I refused she began to change and grow angry. She was the devil in disguise. In the dream, there were a child and a cat that my mom took in. They reacted to her and changed as well. I prayed over them in Latin (I cannot speak any other language aside from English) and casted demons out of them. I woke to the sound of my own voice finishing the song like Latin I would expect to hear from say a monk. I told my girlfriend and she said I was speaking in tongues. I never believed in it, so wondering if this is true.
I had a dream long ago I was in a rugged prison once, and there were two priests speaking. One was speaking fluent German, the other in fluent Spanish, and I laid there listening to them. They seem to understand each other.
Anyway, I dunno what it means or if it should even mean anything at all..
I believe exactly what you said it is a gift. Not all people will receive the same gifts. Some people have the gift of teaching. Some people have the gift of Prophecy. Some people have the gift of interpreting tongues. Some people have the gift of intercessory prayer.
I’ve wondered about this as a teenager I was at church and started speaking in tongues. I felt nothing negative about what I remember but a very spiritual thing happening to me. I didn’t know what I said but there was a transliterates there. She didn’t tell me and I didn’t hear due to me going on and on. I’m 42 now several yrs ago my father in law said it was demonic when I told him about it. That made me very update as I’m a child if god and never have I felt an evil taking over me. Ps I was saved way before as a young child. What do you think? Demon ? Holy Spirit?
lala bla bla etc. :P This is a gift of speaking in tongues? I don't think so. Always when I heard this, I don't understand - that was trance or prayer? I think one upon a time I heard real a gift of speaking in tongues. This man spoke in very alien language..
Thank you for sharing the truth without fear. The world needs such, people whose message is founded in true bible teachings and willing to let God use them to call things as they are. May God keep using you to shine light onto pathways.
I was raised in a congregation who believes in these gifts, all would be practice in order and it was very beneful but as a child it gives me the creeps, as an adult I’ve been in and out of church. Right now I have almost 14 years in Christ ( now Im sure im in Christ) and without asking for it I was baptized in the Holy Spirit and I talk in tongues and sonetimes pray in tongues but I feel that is like it said in the bible for my own edification, I know I need these now to be stable in many things in my life, but as I grow and mature in Christ this gift is getting more and more private for me, I didn’t even like very much to talk in tongues publicly, though I do softly while I worship in my church.
That was one of the first gifts God gave me , but I think He give it to me cause I really need some help. But not because I am better than anyone. And I have learned to have a balance life between the Word and the Spirit. When we get out of balance the problem begins.
Actually there are examples of speaking in an unknown language to God. I Cor 14:2 "he that speaks in an (unknown tongue) speaks not unto men, but (unto God): for no man understands him; howbeit in the spirit he speaks mysteries." Paul speaks specifically about it. Paul even says that he himself prays this way. I Cor 14:14 "For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also:" Paul's declaration of the will is divided in praying in a language the he does not understand and a language that he does understand.
No no... He is a Bible believing christian whose faith is governed by the Holy Spirit through the Holy Scriptures. There are no denominations in the body of Christ. Truth is truth. If this man said something wrong, correct it using the scriptures. Do not base your faith on personal experiences and emotions. Doing so, makes your Christianity a sensual construct whereby you are governed by the flesh (senses). We are instructed to overcome the flesh. This is the reason why there are so many Christians today who are trying to "sense" and "feel" the anointing. It would also behove you to know the difference between the gift of speaking in tongues and "glossolalia".
"It happened that while Apollos was in Corinth, Paul went through the upper [inland] districts and came down to Ephesus, and found some disciples. He asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed [in Jesus as the Christ]?” And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” And he asked, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.” Paul said, “John performed a baptism of repentance, continually telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, [to confidently accept and joyfully believe] in Jesus [the Messiah and Savior].” After hearing this, they were baptized [again, this time] in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in [unknown] tongues (languages) and prophesying.
ACTS 19:1-6 AMP
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed [in Me] and has been baptized will be saved [from the penalty of God’s wrath and judgment]; but he who has not believed will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.”
MARK 16:15-18 AMP
In this day and age speaking in tongues, as a previously unknown language, is nearly totally unnecessary. The Holy Bible has been translated into most every known language or is being translated as we speak. As for other-worldly languages; what's the point? God the Father doesn't need to hear our voices to know our hearts and prayers. I believe the issue is of Satan's construction. Pride in any such ability would be born of Satan. If it isn't for God's glory, it isn't for God.
This video just let me to unfollow you. Not because of your opinion, but reading through the comments I see a lot of people giving you scriptures that contradict what you said. As soon as they do that you vanish and don't have anything to say anymore. Interesting..... anyway I would advice everyone to read the bible for him or herself. Don't build your relationship with God based on someone's opinion. Each and everyone's experience of the Holy Spirit is different.... there are several scriptures in the Bible where it is said "and the Spirit came upon him or her". So people can catch the Holy Spirit. Read your Bible. The snippet of the video looks like a deliverance and Jesus delivered people in the Bible as well. Some where thrown to the floor and where rolling around. Read your bible. God is a Spirit! They that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth - not just fleshly and it does not always have to make sense to us. But it has to make sense to God!
There are NO human words to express God's greatness! It is impossible to find one!
I want to learn I have not been baptized can I still do it. Because. I have tryed it so help me yes people are crazy I need I need the holy spirit right I need to do it I just think that it will help me get close to God I just want to be close to God I belive and I want to I have heard that I do not care how they act I thank God to I would rather to talk like that I think it is great so I need to get ok thank you its great I know but they said that you must be baptized I love it I just want to be x
Close to God
I thank you for your sincere approach to this subject.I'd like to tell you my experience.I wasn't raised in a church so, at 22 yrs old i started searching.I had tryed reading the New testament and, although i thought that it was the beautifully written book i had ever read it seemed hard to understand and contradictory.A friend knew i was searching and invited me to his families church for a Thursday night Bible study.I went and before the study i saw people going back to this room and my friend saw me watching them.He explained that they were going back there to pray and if i wanted i could too.So i did.I went back seeing people kneeling at benches and praying.I found one by myself, because i really didn't know how to pray.I started to listen to how others were praying. After a short time i heard a girl start praying. She started in English but suddenly began speaking in this strange language.I remember thinking that " That's different".Suddenly i felt this powerful presence draw near me.It seemed to be near me and all around me but i wasn't afraid.I was so naive that i opened one eye to see if someone might have kneeled down near enough to me that i was feeling their presence. No body was near me so i decided that it must be Gods' presence.I went back out and sat down with my friend and i saw people coming out of the prayer room and their faces just glowed.I realized that what i felt around me must be in them. And this hunger for that rose up in me.Because i said i enjoyed being there he said he have a friend of his pick me up and take me to a church like his that next night. As soon as i walked into this church i felt this wonderful presence again. At the altar call i went up.I told them that i wanted this presence in me.Two brothers took me back to their prayer room which was a dimly lit hallway.I knelt down, lifted my hands and started praying. The two brothers layed hands on me and started praying for me.After a few minutes i heard the pastors voice. He said,"Brother Bob, stand up lift your hands and recieve the Holy Ghost".I stood up lifted my hands and , with my eyes closed, i saw a window appear to my upoer right. It had those old fashioned shudders and they were wide open. For a few seconds i saw this beautiful blue sky. Then this bright light came into view coming from the right side inside this window. When it reached the center it stopped and shined on me.Immediately, i felt this warmth moving up my legs.It felt like i was being filled with a warm oil.As it continued rising up my body and approached my head, the pastor started telling me to relax and yield my tongue to the Spirit.I stopped thanking the Lord for filling me and relaxed my tongue.I sort of mumbled a little when suddenly i felt control of my tongue seized and my tongue just took off and i was fluently speaking this language that i didn't understand and that sounded like what the girl was speaking the night before.I've never felt such joy in my life.I was rejoicing and the brothers were rejoicing for me too.I led the way out of the prayer room and faced the congregation.I was smiling at them and they were smiling at me and although i didn't know any of them i felt such love for them.I felt like i had a little sun in my head and i could feel its' rays beaming out from around my head. When i arrived home i picked up my Bible to read and i was astonished. It had suddenly taken on much more depth and i felt the Spirit guiding me as i read and instructing me on what i was reading meant.
I suggest you start with 1 Corinthians 14. Paul lays it out plainly. Speaking in tongues has not ceased. It is a gift imparted by the Holy Spirit as He wills. However, Paul’s emphasis is on LOVE. You are correct in your post regarding what matters and that is the gospel message . If Christians were as vehement about witnessing to the lost as they were their theological dogma I suspect more would be saved. Chapter 14 lays this tongues issue out so clearly. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Dude, you are wrong . Read 1Cor 14 for better understanding. Every Christian has the ability to speak in Tongues. And about Tongues speaking people being more powerful, you can't show a single scripture to prove that a Christian who received the Holy Spirit in the new Testament didnt speak in Tongues.
Brother! I agree with you 1000%. These babbling fools out here obviously can't understand the words of Corinthians 14 or Acts 2. The whole point of tongues is to spread the gospel. Tongues is to make the non-believer a believer. A person shall speak in a foreign language that they do not know the receiver knows they do not know but yet understand the message of a language they do know. Thus a believer of the holy spirit is created. If a room full of tongue babblers are speaking in front of a non-believer, how does that edify the body of Christ? Satan has a knock off versions of every gift of the Most High. I had the 3rd Eye of Lucifer for a couple years and that I was speaking to God. Boy what I wrong. The 3rd Eye of Jesus (Discernment/Seeing in the Spirit) is similar but WAY better. I didn't know I had the counterfeit gift until I received the authentic gifts. I realize that satan will find a way to slip his counterfeit gift in front of you on your quest of seeking the Most High and your position in the Kingdom of Light!
There are different tongues. Public tongues must be translated, and should not disturb the congregation.
But everyone (including you) have the ability to pray in tongues privately. You just ask God to let Holy Spirit help your spirit utter it’s unspoken groanings. (Rom 8:26) You will feel how your heart starts to well up with emotions as your spirit wants to express itself. Just allow these emotions to form sounds and syllables in your mind or on your tongue. The words you speak will be meaningless to you or other men, but not to God. (1 Cor 14:2) God knows the meaning (Romans 8:27). That’s the difference from praying with your mind or spirit: Your mind understands what your mind thinks, and your spirit understands what your spirit thinks, even if your mind doesn’t understand it - and God understands it too.
The purpose for private tongues is to build up yourself. (1 cor 14:4) You may not notice it right away, but your spirit knows what it’s saying, and subconsciously it will start affecting your life, edify you and make you focused on spiritual things. You will find it easier to resist temptations and living a godly life.
And what this guy says in the video ain’t true. Paul talks a lot about praying in tongues. And as for the claim that it has no benefit or does not give you more spiritual power, I ask you: Who was the most powerful, zealous, spiritual and influential man in the first century next to Jesus?
What was Paul’s secret?
1 Cor 14:18
“I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all”
Look at what is coming out of your mouths HOW CAN ANYONE CATCH THE HOLY SPIRIT OF OUR LIVING HOLY FATHER .... key word catch .. WAKE UP YOU BUNCH OF ACTORS AND REPENT AND STOP MOCKING OUR HEAVENLY FATHER PLEASE.. you catch colds or flu or if someone throws soy at you .. you catch a beat .. stop the lies... no one living on this earth never ever can or will catch The HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD
I had no idea this was such a dividing issue in the church. I was taught that utterances made by the Holy Spirit while speaking in tongues is the Holy Spirit praying out God's perfect will for your life. I was taught in my church that we were to pursue and wrestle with God for the gifts we felt He was leading us to have. Whether that be interpretation, healing, or tongues. Additionally, I was taught allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through you was a type of prayer that believers were missing out on, because it's a tool God provides to assist our prayers for when we don't know what to pray. We then speak in tongues and the Holy Spirit intercedes with utterances. Like circumventing the mind to pray for what we cannot fathom.
Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, [that special endowment] which was intentionally bestowed on you [by the Holy Spirit] through prophetic utterance when the elders laid their hands on you [at your ordination]. - 1 Timothy 4:4,14 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Timothy4:4,14&version=AMP
Just as each one of you has received a special gift [a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God], employ it in serving one another as [is appropriate for] good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace [faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor].Whoever speaks [to the congregation], is to do so as one who speaks the oracles (utterances, the very words) of God. Whoever serves [the congregation] is to do so as one who serves by the strength which God [abundantly] supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified [honored and magnified] through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. - 1 Peter 4:10-11 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1Peter4:10-11&version=AMP
Please Allen Parr correct me if these verses are incorrect. I have always understood speaking in tongues to be the utterances and groanings of the Holy Spirit, our intercesor. In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words. And He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because the Spirit intercedes [before God] on behalf of God’s people in accordance with God’s will. - Romans 8:26-27 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans8:26-27&version=AMP
I think the lack of interpreters in the church just shows the intimacy of the act, and speaks to the misunderstanding surrounding the gift of speaking in tongues in the church today. It should not be flaunted, and how could it be, when you usually don't understand what you say?
When I pray to God I pray in English and have never felt the need for my tongue to go wild and thrash about, does that mean I don't have the spirit in me?
My relationship with God is a personal one and has nothing to do with anyone else. If anyone wants to see if I have the spirit in me or not then I ask them to judge me by this... Am I making every effort to be kind to everyone and to love all as i would love myself and God.
Everyday, when I wake up, this is what God encourages me to do (love all as one would love thyself and be kind to everyone) but sometimes I make mistakes and when I do God is quick to remind me...have you forgotten what I said this morning?
Oh how wonderful our spiritual farther is.

.I DON'T SEE NOTHING HERE SAID THAT THEY TEACH IN TONGUES.
. I SEE EACH ONE SPOKE IN LANGUAGE THAT THEY DON'T SPEAK TO MATCHES THE LANGUAGE OF EACH MAN FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES WITH THEIR NATIVE TONGUES. and then Peter spoke in his native language galilean where they all understood AND HE PREACHED THE GOSPEL in galilean .
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 👈🏽

12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? 13. Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
14. But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: 15. For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17. And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18. And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19. And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
37. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

LUKE 4 :1, 18, 19
My dad claims to be a prophet and speaks in tongues regularly. Problem is he just makes a bunch of random noises and says it's a spiritual gift. He I told him it's supposed to be a real language but he doesn't believe me.
Maxwell, From my youth, I have always had a problem with ministers, etc. and the so-called art of speaking in "Tongues." God is not the author of confusion. And if anyone knows his Bible he would know that the letter Paul wrote to Corinth was to admonish the people for worshiping improperly. Any unknown tongue is a language that any person isn't familiar with. Your example of not necessarily going to Japan, but having a Japanese audience with several knowing you don't speak their native language is a point well taken. If one speaks English and no other language, then all languages other than English are unknown tongues, a language that can be interpreted by those speaking that language as well as English, etc. Unknown tongues are not gibberish that the masses concoct and others copy. God gave the gift of tongues to whoever was speaking during Pentecost to bring the Gospel to UNBELIEVERS in their language/TONGUES from the mouth of the speaker who without God's help could not speak their language as their language is an unknown tongue to some in the crowd until God grants utterance of same. People continue to pretend and others follow the trash. There is a mistake in your message here when you say, "Make sure there is an interpreter present when speaking in tongues. God would only have the speaker to speak in tongues to the unbeliever present who would know that the message is directed at him. This hasn't happened, as you know, since Pentecost. I recommend the book listed here. It justified my thoughts on the subject and will add more to your knowledge scripturally, as well. "The Gift of Tongues From Heaven's Point of View" written by Hal Steenson.
After research and writing a paper for a graduate degree in seminary, there is nothing in the Bible that requires believers to speak in tongues. The gift of tongues was given on the day of Pentecost by the Holy Spirit to bring believers into the first church; these tongues were audible languages, not the babblings that I have witnessed first hand in charismatic and Pentecostal churches; I have never witnessed an audible foreign identifiable language in church; what I have witnessed is babbling and interpretations to fit the pastor’s agenda. Jesus’ sacrifice at Calvary has eliminated the need for speaking in tongues; the Holy Spirit lives in the hearts of believers and gives us guidance but not tongues; that was for a specific period of time, not applicable to the church today.
If you are already so far out there that you believe in 900+ year old people dragons and the flood, then why not complete the psychiatric evaluation with emulating babies that haven't learned to speak yet! thus firmly establishing your ability to think and grownup-ness! https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=129&v=bHcXWNyxeTg
Paul, apparently, is stating the obvious!
By the power of the Holy Spirit ...Paul could speak a language that he, Paul, never studied, himself!!
However, Paul's use of tongues , and again, by the power of the Holy Spirit, was fruitful for his listeners who were being converted ...hearing Paul address them in their ...own language[s]!!!
KJV - 1 Corinthians 14:22 -
"Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe."
His name is Holy Spirit. He is the most important person on planet Earth. It was Holy Spirit who led us to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. He can be grieved.
ALMIGHTY GOD gave us 3 gifts: First, He sent YESHUA, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. Jesus said, "I must go back to the Father so Holy Spirit can come. He will lead you into all the truth." Holy Spirit gave us our prayer language. Why? So when we don't know what to pray, we can pray the mysteries of GOD. He promises to bring to our remembrance everything He taught us. According to Jude 20, we build ourselves up on our most holy faith when we pray in tongues. It's a sign to the unbeliever and edifies ourselves. Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of praying in tongues is for ALL BELIEVERS!!!
The Gift of Tongues is for use in the church body and edifies the church. It must be done decently and in order.
Completely off the word. I rebuke this information in the name of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 12 speaks clearly that the tongue is a manifestation. There are 9 of them. Also the interpretation comes from the speaker. This video is a clear proof of the rightly divided word in 2 Timothy ....
Most arguments and corrections and those giving "doctrinal balance" or offeting consel about speaking in toungues tend to come from those who have not yet experienced it. The bible talks about both human and angelic languages and most probably it is the angelic ones called gibberish.
There is more than one kind of speaking in tongues. The kind where you speak Japanese to a Japanese person except you don't know Japanese is one kind of speaking in tongues. Another kind is where you pray in tongues in your personal prayer closet and you don't know what you are saying but God does. Paul said he was thankful he spoke in tongues more than them all but not to do it in church without an interpreter. It is obvious that the kind that requires an interpreter is not solely for the purpose of preaching to a Japanese etc. Once you acknowledge that there exists a type of speaking in tongues that is unknown language or an unknown tongue then this whole discussion becomes easier. Salvation is found in Romans 10:9 and it says nothing about speaking in tongues. But anyone who wants to speak in tongues can. The gift of tongues that is done in church and requires an interpreter is not for every Christian but the speaking in an unknown tongue in your private prayer life is for every Christian who wants this gift.
my pastor said that speaking in tongues is totally different with demonic possessions, cause demonic possession makes people unconscious and have no control, but those who speak in tongues are conscious
Paul mentions praying in tongues in 1 Corinthians (along with the suggestion that it's not edifying for others to hear one praying in tongues). I figure praying in tongues in church is OK if done quietly to not distract those near by.
The “tongues” in Acts were established, earthly languages, being spoken by people who had not been to, nor had learned, the languages of those other lands. It was a sign for unbelievers to hear the Gospel in their own language, spoken by people they knew could not speak their language.
Paul actually was caustically admonishing the church at Corinth about their speaking in tongues and the confusion it was causing.
I came to Christ in a Pentecostal Church. And at one time, was frustrated that I wasn’t receiving this “gift” of speaking in tongues. I could fake it well enough...because linguistic experts have determined that there is no consistency in modern day speaking in tongues and that it has no resemblance to any known language - current or ancient - and does not possess key characteristics required for communication and language. So sounding like the others doing it in that church was easy enough. But I started studying it and came to realize that what is occurring in churches now is not Biblical tongues. I left the Pentecostal Church because of the tongues issue and because those who believe in it refused to discuss any of the logic paths or conclusions I came to by allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture; presumably because it challenged something they held to be both dear and legitimate. They wanted to defend their activity, rather than answer my questions or address my findings in Scripture. It was a controversial point of doctrine to discuss and it never should be. We should always seek to study to show ourselves approved, rightly divide the Word of Truth, and then change any misconceptions we previously held onto when we find that they conflict with Scripture. Studying the Word has changed my position on quite a few things over the years and it saddens me when fellow believers in Christ and the Bible choose to remain willfully ignorant of Scripture taken in its proper context, for the sake of remaining firmly in their comfort zone.
Dan Hayden has a very good 6 CD study called, “The Gift of Tongues”, which does a fine job of avoiding opinion, approaching the topic in Christian love, and applying the full context of Scripture. I would recommend it to anyone curious about what “speaking in tongues” was and is. He starts with Pentecost from Acts, discusses Paul’s experiences with the Corinthians, discusses the application in regards to a prayer language and the tongue of angels; as well as its applications across the years - from the establishment of the early church to modern times.
Bottom line: I do not deny that those speaking in tongues are having some type of experience; but I think it can be shown, (via the evidence given in Word of God, taken in truth and context), that anyone speaking in tongues now - be it in church/worship, or in their private prayers) - are not practicing any Biblically-supported activity.
I think much of the church is unaware that "ecstatic tongues" , shaking uncontrollably, hysterical laughing and falling over backwards is also practiced by other religions and the occult. There was a case in Perth Western Australia where a man spoke in "tongues" in front of the congregation. A man in the congregation stood up and shouted for the speaker to stop. The speaker had actually been speaking in Te Reo (Maori) which he didn't understand himself, but the man in the congregation was fluent in it and revealed that the speaker had been actually cursing God.
You are obviously not spirit filled because if you were, you would not publicly be falsifying the word of God. Acts 1 talks of 120 people in the upper chamber all receiving the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, Acts 2:38 then of how to get saved and how 3000 were baptised and filled with the same Spirit and same evidence and then again, 5000 the next day. Mark 16:15-18 writes of the signs of the believer who has been baptised by full immersion and repentant in Christ. They SHALL SPEAK IN NEW TONGUES with SHALL being the finite and common denominator. Even Saul who became Paul the apostle received the Holy Spirit the same way. How do they know he changed. Because he had the evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit as laid out in Mark 15-18. He spoke in tongues and they all then knew God had sealed him and changed his heart. The bible was written by divine intervention and the new testament by Gods spirit filled speaking in tongues saints. If your not a qualified Formula 1 mechanic you cant fully understand the manual and fix F1 cars in a qualified manner. If your not Spirit filled and speaking in tongues proven and God (peer reviewed) then, you cant fully expect to understand the Bible which was written by Spirit filled for the Spirit filled people. Enough said, hundreds of thousands of us could dispute your misguided natural interpretation but at the end of the day. You too have the right to be saved. Ask a true walking in Christ, practicing, spirit filled proof of the Holy Spirit speaking in tongue christian how to become saved and then, do it Gods way (Yahwehs), not your ways.
Been watching you for a while. You've been very much in line with what I have been reading in the bible. Until now. Now you seem....tricky. I've been fooled before. I like what you have been preaching thus far. Seems like it syncs with what I have been reading, until now. I hope I don't wind up blocking you. I guess to me that suggests that you are on the wrong side of the spiritual battle.
Speaking in tongues means talking a human language you don't know not babbling nonsense.. those that babble nonsense are actually mocking the true biblical gift of tongues.. it's no different from someone mocking a Chinese by making mock Chinese talk
I never learned to speak in tongues and I never addressed a congregation in tongues where I need an interpreter. But I speak in tongues often, God speaking through me. You are wrong if you say I need an interpreter when I’m not even addressing a congregation. God speaks through me and I’m not going to quench the Spirit. Again, you are wrong about this!
