When @bastilledan sent me happier for the first time I was taken back. The amount of emotion that you could feel in the lyrics was crazy. As I listened to the song more and more it reminded me of so many things I’ve been through in my life. Toxic relationships, letting go of things I didn’t want to and just situations where happiness came with a sacrifice. Recently I lost my best friend, my companion, my life long friend. I wanted this video to embrace the pain that we feel losing or sacrificing something and the cycle of life that comes with it. I hope this song and video can bring closure in any situation you may be and make us all happier 💛

My dog actually passed a little while before Christmas so this just brings back so much memories. He was really sick and we gave him the best life and we made sure he was spoiled. This actually helped me feel better but I’ll still always feel said a couple of days before Christmas every year.
My dog destiny was a little girl and she was beautiful and amazing we play together everyday after school I was in 4th grade and when I came back 2years later she was dying so I called my mom and she took her to the vet and the said she didn't make it and then she died I will remember her 2015-2018
this dog kinda looks like my dead dog bruno and i really miss him this is like the exact story after i watched the video i started crying and im still crying the story is
when i was born we got bruno for me when i turned 3 he was so nice to me when i moved a couple months later he was prononced dead i really miss him but we got another dog named prince and he was white a couple months later her turned brownish whiteish and im afraid he will die too and my sister had a pet turtle we were sad most of our animals died
Get on youtube. Listen to marshmello and cry for 10 minutes after watching sad music video because you miss your best friend. Write up reply of what you thought music video could mean. Be sad the rest of the night. *sighs*
Everyone has a theory on what this meant. Maybe it was straight forward and it really did have to do with a dog and the girl. It could really mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Ultimately it means what the author or musician meant it to mean. However, this is what it means to me.
To me, it was describing an idea that each new best friend starts out like puppy and the friendship grows, but sometimes those friendships, especially if it's between the opposite sex, will start to die. I would say, the puppy is the symbolization that represents when you first meet them and start getting to know them, it's innocent and a lot fun; you just end up fitting together. The middle aged dog is the symbolization of when the friendship is strong, you know each other extremely well and can read the other person without thinking about it. You want to make them happy and they want to make you happy. You know what they need when they need it, what they want, and what will make them feel better. You can feel when they are sad and know when to intervene. Like the dog trying to get in the door to comfort her when she was hurting. Some best friendships never leave the middle aged stage, however, when they do you reach the older dog who doesn't do any tricks or even acknowledges your presence anymore. This would represents the final stages of the friendship or bond. This is when (mostly with the opposite sex either male or female) one person either gets bored of the other or enters into a relationship with another person other than yourself. They start to become distant and eventually the friendship, the bond, the months or years of memories just die and there's nothing you can do about it.
Just my opinion.
*Dogs are the only things on earth that wont judge you, and will love you for who you are. They will be with you for your whole entire life until one tragic day. Dogs are truly amazing, they never leave your side, are always loyal. When your dog dies, make sure to remember, you made that dog's life better, he/she did it to you too. I could go on and on forever about how good my dog was. On my 7th birthday I got a puppy, so frickin happy. Its 3rd birthday made me a bit sad, I realized it would die in 7-10 years. It turned 10 soon, it had cancer. The vets confirmed I was dying on the floor, crying, wishing it was a dream. I was sure lucky he survived for that part, it came back ;(. I knew this was the end we had a journey together, a story, I will always have that dog in my heart...*
