This is one of the longest "Air Crash Investigation" videos I have ever made. It took me such a long time to create it. I hope you'll like it and thanks for watching! :)
Hieronimus Bosch (1 month ago)
+Mcgyver Newone Whatever the systems used by TheFlightChannel, the result is an air crash/event investigation which goes as far as the average viewer can understand. A media creator has to define a target audience, then satisfy the expectations of that audience. I have no doubt that the product is inadequate for genius-level specialists in everything concerning aviation, such as your brilliant self, but it's not aimed at the 0.0000001% of potential viewers with your most impressive abilities. I am sure you would be happier with videos in the series "The Teletubbies Play at Being Little Einsteins".

Somehow you lose faith in the intelligence of both pilots and maintenance crew. Seriously with this incident, they should have turned around immediately. They all had a nice chat, maybe some tea with balance of everyone's life onboard. All about time, schedule and money. So sad

Flight Crew saved the passengers with their actions. They should not be blamed.

there are NO INJURYIES REPORTED

I loved to fly SIA I find their landings very smooth and the cabin service great
Peter Walker (29 days ago)
F*ck off, if I see low oil volume and high temps and fluctuating pressure I'm not about to fault ALL the instruments. FFS, some of these guys need to rebuild cars or old planes or something to get a feel for machinery.

It is a sign that Singapore Airlines is POWERFUL. And im a sinaporean as well

What is a fuel disagree warning? And what should have been addressed differently in that regard. These questions would have ideally like to have been touched on however it does not take away from the very professional workmanship displayed in video.
BlueSlime Player (1 month ago)
Interesting video. Even thought the flight crew performed the fuel disagree checklist wrongly I still believe they acted quite well and with the assistance of the technical personal and the firefighters. Resulting in everyone survivong and the plane landing safely
Frank Dalla (1 month ago)
Man, where in the hell do they get these tech service people? With a low oil indication and a temp rise that would clearly indicate a true situation. The oil level is low. Return and land immediately. Far too much concern about profit verses safety going on.
paulin1606 (1 month ago)
Good job again ur videos
Oh, the pilots never followed the fuel disagree check list. Question: what difference would that have made since they were already doing everything they could and idled the engine as soon as they could.
tsitas tsitoulis (2 months ago)
100% pilot error. he should not engage thrust reverse in the non good engine. STUPID.

I immediately “like” every TheFlightChannel video the moment I click on it.
ecclestonsangel (2 months ago)
Seriously?! They blamed the PILOTS for this?! I was just thinking they were wicked smart for thinking something was seriously wrong with the plane! Had they done what the engineers had said and kept on going to Milan, everybody would most likely be dead! It was their quick decision to go back to Singapore that saved everybody's lives in the end. Boy- the idiocy of the bureauacracy(sp?) is the only constant in the universe.ARGH!

Why the hell did the crew throttle up the engine on landing with the thrust reverse deployedr when it was damaged ???????????????????
Emilien Gosselin (2 months ago)
It seems weird to me that the pilots would deploy thrust reversers when one engine is almost sure to fail.
Greg Narciso (3 months ago)
I am from the Philippines glad that the captain, co-pilot and the ATC Singapore, and have done an excellent job. Greg Narciso.
Ossie Mc (3 months ago)
They always try to blame the flight crew...
John Doyle (3 months ago)
Surely after identifying a potential fault such as this, then waiting for the next service interval is inadequate, should they all have had immediate checks? I have limited knowledge of aviation procedures, so maybe I am over cautious. Thanks for a well produced video, and pleased it was a safe landing and all survived.
John R (3 months ago)
"The engine's manufacturer General Electric had already identified that certain MFOHEs were cracking and instructed that they be removed from the engines and inspected then repaired if necessary." And this information was not available to service technicians when they pulled the plane up after captain reached out? What type of computer systems do they have? Why could no one put 2 and 2 together and say, go back now, your GE engine may be leaking oil per an outstanding bulletin? This is not good.
John R (3 months ago)
Too much indecision - just go back before the problems compound; nervous just watching this...

You did a magnificent job on this one. The only problem was that my fingers wouldn't stop twitching because I wanted to be pushing those buttons and flipping those switches myself.

PILOTS LIKE THESE GIVE AVIATION A VERY BAD NAME. PURE STUPIDITY THAT EVEN I KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!! NEVER RESTART AN ENGINE THAT IS ALREADY GIVING YOU TROUBLE. NEVER CONTINUE TO USE A ENGINE THAT HAS GIVEN INDICATIONS ITS GOT A PROBLEM. YOUR 30,000 FUCKING FT. IN THE AIR AND THESE IDIOTS ARE FLYING WITH ZERO UNDERSTANDING, MAKING A DOZEN MISTAKES JUST ASKING TO BE KILLED!
patrick piel (3 months ago)
101 mistKE after mistKE AFTER MISTAKE. THEY ARE GIVEN EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO GO BACK EVEN WITH RUMBLING THEY ARE STALLING THEIR RETURN. TOTAL STUPIDITY. ANY FARM BOY KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT TO DO., THESE IDIOTS DO NOT KNOW THE FIRST THING, AND ARE DANGEROUS IN THE AIR! HOW DID THEY EVER GET THIS FAR.????

I can't believe that they didn't just land at the nearest airport when they saw the low oil level. They said the gauge malfunctioned but how come the high temperature then?? That indicator also broke at the same time?!?!?!?

Im blaming General Electric for this one. bad design, poor communication
Gerald Swain (4 months ago)
Can never understand why the captain and flight officer's in all these aircraft do not have cabin cctv, giving them immediate direct viewing of their aircraft exterior at any and all times. With present technology this is a comparative easy exercise ,on many occasions they have been informed by a passenger that there is a problem of which they themselves had know knowledge ,unbelievable And inexcusable in present times !.
Mark Bonham (4 months ago)
I am in agreement that at that moment when they new something is not right that is the time to turn around however, everybody is worried about the little things in life like their schedule, am I going to be labeled paranoid pilot and many other human concerns. They should all be focused on living!
This was the video so it how I know you. Thanks for this video!

What a perfect combo, a long episode from you about an incident that ended with all the passengers being saved (and the plane!)
Edmund Hughes (4 months ago)
The engineer said it could be faulty indication?????? There were three separate indications of the problem (level, temp, and vibration). For God's sake if the damn PA system is faulty any flight is delayed until the problem is checked! This level of incompetence at this level of experience is unheard of!

Wow an almost 5 hour flight for the passengers to go nowhere. I hope Singapore airlines compensated the passengers for having to go through this ordeal (and breathe burning oil/fuel/engine components).

amazing they managed to bring this aircraft back to service, must have been a heck of an extensive job on the right wing to bring it back. heat and aluminum alloys don't dance together well.

At least it is not foolish people that fly this plane. When I found out everyone survived. Tears came out.

Hi there! Really impressive video quality! I have watched almost all your videos and they are perfect. Just one comment though, I don't consider myself a grammar nazi but the tense used should be consistent. Some are in past tense some are in present tense, can be quite distracting. Hate to see a good video go to waste because of incorrect tense! Don't duds me guys, just constructive feedback 😊

See? singapore Airlines know how to do something
michael dicker (6 months ago)
When the Captain spoke to Engineering the Engineering people should have been aware of the engine manufacturers bulletin regarding the failures in some heat exchangers and advised the plane to return to Singapore.
g g (6 months ago)
The pilots saved the day. Based on this account here, they appeared to be alert, vigilant, and methodical in the way they were handling every emerging situation.
T Someone (6 months ago)
Good to blame everyone but that should have been recalled straight away and not a service bulletin. General Electric doesn't care enough about safety. These are aeroplanes and not home appliances
