Are you frustrated with Stitch Fix and looking for other options? Perhaps you’re just curious about Trunk Club. Either way, this video will give you the difference between Stitch Fix and Trunk Club based on my experiences with both. I compare and contrast the frequency of shipments, styling fee and discounts, profile, returns, stylist integration and feedback, clothing styles and overall cost. I also include my first Trunk Club unboxing.
I hope you find this somewhat helpful whether you’re trying to select a subscription box service or are trying to decide to switch to a different one. Thanks for watching!

I tried stitch fix for 3 months. I kept one top from the first shipment then the clothing got more expensive in the 2nd & 3rd shipments. But I indicated in my profile the price range I wanted, & they still sent the pricey stuff. I said forget it after that & canceled my subscription!
I tried it out. I was really disappointed. Although I loved the questions from my stylist etc and every pair of pants fit...freaking miracle. I received 12 items. I kept two half heartedly. I kept saying I work from home have a bohemian vibe but regular gal. All of my items were very modern and sleek--except the pants. One blouse looked like the puffy shirt in dark green (you know Seinfeld). I even sent back two pair of boots which I loved the look of but they really felt cheap and were $150 each. I was giving it a try so I pressed the exchange button and more than half wouldn't even be exchangeable in color or size. bummer.
I too was a Stitch Fix member for almost 2 years and in the beginning they were great, they sent me stuff that matched my style then it slowly started to change. I received stuff that was not part of my color/pattern preference and stuff that just was not me! Thanks to your comparison video, I have now joined Trunk Club - thank you!
Hi Monica! You can set price points for both companies and my personalized service with both has been pretty equal as well. I actually have more back and forth one-on-one with TC than SF. Thanks for watching!
Hi Debbie! This video has been up for a long while and there’s nothing one can do post-upload. But we just watched it along with several other videos by other creators and it was a tad lower in volume but not that far off to where we couldn’t hear it. I haven’t heard this from anyone else who’s commented so adjusting your volume will help as well. As we creators grow, our equipment upgrades, as mine has since this video. Thanks for the feedback!
This popped up in my feed after giving my review on my latest (and last) Stitch Fix. Very glad to see this video now, as I'd really like to work with a stylist, but need more than what SF offers. My experience with SF was sadly unsatisfactory. The lack of meaningful communication with SF stylists was frustrating. I researched all the SF pieces sent out of curiousity about brands that I'd not heard of. Many are small labels and most cater to younger women (I'm 45+), which explains why my requests for classic, clean lines and timeless pieces was met with festival wear and trendy statement shirts. I feel that direct contact with a stylist, or more clear branding from SF would have saved me the wasted time spent receiving items that would never live up to expecations. Their pricing also makes me question the value of the service/products. Almost all of the items I received were new to market 1 to 2+ years ago, but are priced on par with the brands' current 'new release' items. None of us would shop a clearance rack and expect to pay as much as items in the new release section. Thanks for the thorough explanation - might give TC a try, or may even hire a local stylist to shop with me.
I just came across this video and I was wondering if you still use Trunk Club or have you tried Wantable? I tried Stitch Fix two times but felt like it was a little generic and items I could’ve picked myself
I saw your love for lip balms in another unboxing video. I haven’t recommended one in s long time. Clinique has Pout Prep. The daytime colors are nice, I love Quam, but the Night Pout is spectacular. An actual treatment.
Hm, interesting. Sounds like Trunk club will be more what I would want. I think I will switch, but I think it is too late for my first fee on TC so I will just do the one and then cancel. I am a middle aged women who hates shopping in the stores, but an artist and love fashion and looking fashionable. My biggest thing is I want quality along with fashion.
Trunk club is a Nordstrom company. So they send our brands that Nordstrom carries. Depending on your price range, you can get high, mid or lower range options. I haven’t had quality issues with the items I’ve kept but I feel like TC is more consistent with things feeling higher quality overall.
Stitch Fix? I do it if I think about it or if I get an email reminder saying they miss me and why don’t I try them again. They’ve waived my styling fee a few times. It’s been just ok. I actually may give them another shot for a work meeting I have coming up. It’s been a long time...maybe they’ve made some changes. Thanks!
man your one picky woman but also what they sent was really bad! I have no idea what you have said your style is but maybe you need to rewrite what you want so maybe these people could maybe understand better.
Thank you for talking about the difference I'm considering joining trunk club I like how you can talk more to the stylist and I'm more picky there are some materials I can't wear because of sensitive skin or wouldn't wear for other reasons etc. Can you have them not send shoes or bags? Like is that an option?
My first stitch fix I only kept 2 things a top and a pair of jeans. I'm getting my second fix in October, if I don't love what I asked for, I'm switching to trunk club. And the fact that trunk club sends someone to your house is awesome to pick it up, the first stitch fix I got was delivered at a bad time and I had to get someone to send my stuff back, I worked 3 12 hour days in a row and couldn't make it to the post office if I didn't want to get charged the entire box.
Hi Stephanie I'm so glad you have so much success on your channel this is a very good video about Stitch fix I love your room and you're very beautiful woman if you ever get a chance please head over to my channel a singer YouTube it would mean so much God bless you beautiful have a nice night 💋💗😳
From just watching videos the trunk club is probably also better if you don't have as much of a juvenile style. Stitch fix seemed to have some cute items but seemed best for the 25 and under age group.
You definitely got some nice stuff in there and some of them might look better with a belt. Both Trunk Club and Stitch Fix are a bit too expensive for me but maybe I'll try it one of these days. Glad I have Golden Tote to use for now.
I absolutely LOVE stitch fix, it has so worked well for me and I love all the unique clothing they send, here's my referral code in case you want to try :-) https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/7505896?sod=w&som=c
My friend uses websites like these just to have an outfit or two for a few days and then sends them back. She doesn't buy anything but just uses them to have outfits instead of buying separate pieces at the store. Am I allowed to do that? And will it work out for me? I don't have the money to buy things from the websites but I need outfits for school.
+BreAnna Howell That's not what they're supposed to be used for. That's the equivalent of buying something from an actual store, wearing it and then returning it. It's dishonest and unethical. People do this but all it does in the end is cause prices to go up because of returns and money loss. I've heard of people getting those returned, worn items in their box. They can tell they're not new, unworn items. So it still ends up as a loss.
I really hope and feel confident that you'll have some great success with Truck Club, Steph! I do feel like with TC, that the brands and styles are more on par with your tastes. Love this and can't wait to see more in the future. I live vicariously thru u, lol. Xoxo
One more note to add, Trunk Club tracks your purchases and the more you buy, the more they put in your trunks. It's a lot, but once you hit $1000 in purchases (not hard with Nordstrom pieces), you get 15 pieces/ trunk instead of 10. Not sure if there are other levels. I've been using Trunk Club for a while, and it's changed a lot, but with the Nordstrom card option you mentioned, I love getting them even more now! Stitch Fix was ok, but the big issue for me was the 3 day turnaround.
Trunk club is on demand but you can set up a schedule with your stylist. It seems to me watching various videos and my own trunk club experience, a lot depends on your stylist. As far as frequency I've had smaller trunks with ten items and larger trunks with 15. I also love the stylist communication with trunk club. I wish stitch fix did that. They will also communicate by phone if you prefer that to private message or email. I get and like both services, but there are some differences. Boy, I love that bag! I think the turquoise color on those earrings would look great on you. Trunk club is definitely more for investment pieces and wardrobe staples with some treats mixed in. Great video! Looking forward to your future trunk club unboxings. Warning- trunk club unboxings/Try on vids are long because they send so much but it's still fun watching
I'm super interested because I tried Stitch Fix, but 1. I'm 4'11", 100ish lbs and 40+ years old. It's hard to find things that fit that don't either look hoochy or like I'm 8. 2. Stitch Fix just doesn't do classic. It's all patterned and if I got one more flowy top I was going to loose my mind. When you're 4'11", you look like you're wearing a potato sack for sure. Not one thing was fitted. I live super close to Nordstrom and get Makeup there all the time. Also bought my daughter's prom dress last week (right off the mannequin) but I never really look for clothes there. Not sure why. I just might need to try this or I know my friend (with much more money to spend than I) has a personal shopper at Nordstrom.
Jennie B. I am the same way. You and I have the exact same frame, and I always have trouble finding nice but cute and age appropriate clothes that fit. I love StitchFix, but that is one problem I'm experiencing with it as well. However, I'm a single mother with a kid in college, so I just can't afford the price difference in Trunk Club. 🙁
Stephanie Marie Haha! I'll tell my hi you said so! Just for you... At least that's one perk to living in Kansas! It's freezing cold for Spring Break, it's a day's drive to a beach...but I do have Nordstrom 15 min away. 😉😃 Thanks for your videos!
Hi Stephanie! Great video. We don't have anything like that here, that I know of. I love the items you got from TC. It would be fun to try out something like this. Hope you're having a lovely week. xoxo Daphne.💖
HI Stephanie! I just found your channel! Love your videos! I recently did a Stitch Fix tag video and tagged you. It's a Stitch Fix favorites tag! Zero pressure to participate, just wanted to let you know how wonderful your videos are! Thanks so much and keep up the great work! xoxo
You mentioned the greater variety with Trunk Club and I totally agree. It isn't just variety of brands and personal style. I had two Mardi Gras balls in January and my stylist sent me a trunk filled with 6 ball gowns, 3 shoe options and a purse. I also plan to request a beach trunk with swimsuits and coverups.
Stephanie Marie Thank you. Where I live we have no Nordstrom's. :( Thank you so much for responding to my questions. I can only imagine how busy you are. I appreciate it very much!! Susan.PS I will look into it in any case. Sounds interesting. Thank you Stephanie!
Hi STEPHANIE!! Thank you so much for your very through overview!! However, I am in love with the colour of your paint in the room you are shooting this video from. Can You please give me the colour! It's gorgeous! Thank you. Susan. 💐
I get Stitch Fix now, I am getting really frustrated with them. They have sent the same styles for my last 5 boxes. I just continue to hold out some hope that at least one or two items will be good. I would love to try Trunk Club. I may just try them once and see what happens. It sounds like you have great communication with your stylist. :)
Seems Trunk Club needs to work on their profile process so they don't get so many returns (referring to all the dresses with the wrong fit). I think they start on the wrong foot asking me to like or dislike styles without asking some very key questions first like age range, general style preference (conservative, trendy, in between) and whether to show business, casual or business casual outfits. They should ask that clients send them some pictures of their most worn current outfits with accessories and all. Wouldn't that make sense?
+Sara Jane Haven I found that the back and forth chatting with my stylist eliminated the need for a lot of that. You can link to your Pinterest which can show them what you link and don't like also. I feel like I did answer some likes and dislike profile style questions up front? But maybe not. But my stylist was really good about asking those things up front so maybe it's stylist specific?
I don't subscribe to either of these clothing boxes...I have kinda weird measurements so I just prefer to do my own shopping...the one true and honest fit is luke in this video!!!!! love seeing my little buddy
What kind of box is out there for people who don't care about labels it name brands? Lol. I'm okay with old navy, target, or even Burlington coat factory stuff. 😁 I typically pay $30 or less for a top and the same for pants- $30 or less! It better make me look transformational to spend $50 on an article of clothing except maybe shoes! I just can't justify spending more than that in clothing especially after taking with my grandmother who is 90 and came from the Great Depression. I like watching these box things but I will likely never subscribe to them because I've never seen one send affordable (by my definition) pieces!
Try Nadine West!!! Its great for us women who are a bit frugal. Anything u don't want, u won't get charged. The shipping price gets added as a discount to your total of anything u keep! Everything ranges from $10-$30 :-) check it out!
Ashlee Howard I know this is super late... but I try Goodwill. Our local Goodwill is super over priced BUT I’ve found so many pieces that are $8ish that were WAY more expensive originally. I used to hate the idea of used clothing. I heard someone say once that they shop second hand because if something is in really good shape then it’s probably decent quality. I’ve taken there advice and been super happy with it.
You know Ashlee, it may be the price ranges people are selecting. I wonder what you would get if you selected the price ranges you wanted? It may be worth a shot? I've come across some channels that choose less expensive ranges and they get decent selections!
I didn't matter that video was longer than usual it was necessary to describe all the differences and show what your benefits and issues were. I thought it was a fabulous and in depth initial review. I really look forward to you getting and showing these in the future, you always do such a great job of describing the items and what's wrong (or right). I look forward to the Trunk Club series! xx, Jen
Stephanie Marie Yes, I know it may not matter for Stitch Fix any longer, but any time you have a pre paid USPS return shipping label from anywhere just go to usps.Com and go to "schedule a (home) pickup" (you can also do office if you need to!). You just need to do it by 2am CST for next day pick up. HTH! 😘 Jen
Shelly Mcdonough I'm sure it is, because my sis-in-law is 6'0" and wears an 11 1/2 size shoe 👠, she has used Trunk Club for quite a while. Because she is a busy business professional she gets a lot of her clothing there, both casual and professional. They have a much higher end items than stitch fix, of course you can pick your price range. However, because of this she is able to get shoes in her size and clothing in her size (tall), she is very slender. I would definitely suggest trying it! HTH!
So theoretically, since Nordstrom has free shipping and returns, you could just create your own trunk without the middle man-- filled with things that catch your eye and that you know you like. Maybe not as fun, but certainly an idea. Loved this--thanks for sharing!
AGAIN, I LOVE YOU!!!! I am going to follow your trunk deliveries and probably sign up from your link. My daughter gets stitch fix and it works for her because she is young and on a budget. But I was hesitant to sign up because of the quality of stitch fix. I think the Trunk is geared more towards quality and I shop from Nordstrom all the time. * high fives* Stephanie, * high fives* : o ) LOVE YOU !!!!!!!!!!!
+Bev Sivert Thanks Bev! I'm still trying to decide how to work these in on my channel. I already received my second one but I don't want to be doing unboxings all the time you know?! Lol! I'll definitely try to keep you guys updated somehow though!
Oh man I had never heard of trunk club. I love Nordstrom. If only my Nordstrom card wasn't in such bad shape right now (lol) I'd be all over this! Gonna try a couple more stitch fixes and then maybe try trunk club, thanks for the video :).
Good luck on your next trunk club. I think your doing better than stich fix already. I love the blouse u kept...it's so different and u can always use a trendy piece. Can't believe that plain blouse was 230.00?!!! Can't wait to watch you're next trunk club video..it's so much fun 🙄
+Marie B. You have to return things in the trunk. :) I'm going to add the info in the description box today at some point. I meant to yesterday but got sick and forgot! It'll be up in a little while! 👍🏼
Stephanie Marie prices can indeed change while you have the trunk! Also if you see the same item on sale at Nordstrom but it's not on sale in your trunk, let your stylist know. They will match the Nordstrom sale price
Stephanie Marie that would be interesting to ask about. I wonder if they have Nordstrom like policies in regards to returns or pricing. for example I know Old Navy does price adjustments within 2 weeks of your purchase. i keep watching videos like this. i feel like i want someone to shake up my style in terms of jackets, dresses, and shoes. maybe tops but they have to be really cool. I'm researching. does stitch fix ever do clutches or bags? I don't think I've seen anyone have that?
I had a period of time where StitchFix just could not make me happy. My last fix went well but prior there was a lot of trial and error and poor quality items. Trunk Club sounds great, I just may give it a try. tfs
Great video! Thanks so much for going through it all! Loved the bag, do get it in another color! I do like the styles a lot and great designers too; much higher end! :-) Love Kendra Scott, have a lot of it already! Very Fun, Heidi xoxo
I haven't tried either one of these services, but have been thinking about starting one, so this video was tremendously helpful. Do you think Trunk Club benefited you over just shopping yourself at Nordstrom? I love Nordstrom and Norstrom Rack and do most of my shopping between those two and a bit at Target.
As you can probably tell, I'm commenting as I watch your video LOL The print on that black & white dress is so pretty and that green dress to is so pretty, wish the fits were better, they are both so pretty. But yeah, being your first I get they have to figure you out. Not too bad :)
Stephanie, what would you say the average cost for the individual items might be? For example, the stitch fix tops generally run around $30-40, pants, $70-90, dresses, $60-80. Are they similar to prices online or in store? Thanks for the feedback!
+Grace McCullough I really can't say because it depends on how you fill out your profile. I feel like my SF items were slightly higher than that, probably bc I filled out my profile differently you know? It's all customizable to each person for each item type.
Thank you for this video. I just sent back all five items from Stitch Fix for this month. My last three fixes have had damaged items or clothes that don't look anything like what I have on my Pinterest board. It's frustrating because I see others receiving nice items but my boxes are miss after miss. I've been considering trying Trunk Club and I am going to look into it now.
I glanced at a thumbnail of someone else who was unboxing a stitchfix and they had the same shirt on that you got last one I watched, the striped one with the elbow patches and I had to laugh.....can't wait to see what you got!
And btw, I work for the USPS and only one of my customers does stitchfix, so whenever I deliver her box, I wonder what she got and think of you because I never heard of it until I watched your videos! Had no idea what it was!
