The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. More than 200 people were accused, nineteen of whom were found guilty and executed by hanging (fourteen women and five men). One other man, Giles Corey, was pressed to death for refusing to plead, and at least five people died in jail. It was the deadliest witch hunt in the history of the United States.
Group think is an accurate term for what brought this about. Let's find out what happened and how it could've been avoided. Thanks for watching, guys.

You rock and I hope you have a blessed day/night! Stay warm my friend. This was a crazy thing I went over in high school. Pretty crazy lol. Crazy shit mate!!
was it just me or was Country Boy Rich's accent a] hot af and b] Matthew McConaughey in those car commercials he did or anything else with Matthew McConaughey in ...? This channel is epic on so many levels thank you for being so consistently awesome in what you create and what your passionate about - it truly shows. You've saved my sleep and my over active brain many many times. Both Rich's, in fact LOL
Nice! I’ve been watching this channel for a while. I been noticing a comeback of witch trial logic these days. Nice to know other people are noticing it too.
Also, thanks for reigniting my interest in space and the universe and teaching me about history as well. I’ve always wondered if ASMR could be used to help information soak into the mind a little better. After listening to your videos I feel like it does.
I seriously love your intros. Laughing first really helps me to relax. Have you considered doing something on ocean ecosystems? Terrifying yet amazing. Thanks for all of your content, I'm never going back to eye exams. 😂
Just a heads up man, thought you might want to know that you have become so popular in the ASMR community, that by searching "ASMR Lets" will bring up your channel's username.
Now normally this could be summed up to "its just a name", but normally the main search results are things like:
ASMR lets eat
ASMR lets watch
And so on and so forth, very rarely does it list a specfic channel's name.
Of course man, it blew me away as well. But lets be honest, when you have a voice and certain vibe about you that makes you trustworthy, it makes educational videos actually worth watching and listening to. You are basically the Morgan Freeman/Bob Ross of educational content. If schools played your videos, I think students would actually learn something.
I'm so glad you did your research and history round up on this. I practice myself and I've tried to enlighten others on the subject but I'm usually met with glares and denial. So thank you for putting the truth out there, I hope this will reach those who believed the stigma.
Dude! Your channel is amazing! I struggle with terrible anxiety especially at night and it makes sleep almost impossible. Your channel combines ASMR and history which are two things I’m really passionate about. It’s the perfect relaxing distraction to help me drift off to sleep and I just wanted say thank you and please keep doing what you’re doing!
Please never stop doing these kind of intros, puts an instant smile on my face and the humour makes it easier for me to relax haha
also re: 4:53, it would add a lovely fireplace ambience though, wouldn't it? 🤔
hey Rich if you haven’t been to Boston yet, you and your better half should totally go! it’s a great town (and very beautiful in Beacon Hill) FULL of history, easily walkable and... AND... Salem is short and fun ferry ride away! and the JFK library is phenomenal!!!!! great vacay!
I've watched your videos for quite some time now but never commented, just wanted to say that I loved this intro! Great video, keep up the great work man! (1984 is one of my favorite books, glad you mentioned it in this one)
Lmao carl Sagan with a southern accent !! That intro, tho. 😂. I have been listening to a podcast about the witch trials, & how it revolved around 2 very rich families that fought over the land- Salem and Salemtown (?) . interesting stuff. Curious as to your take on it. Settling in to watch. (If i dont fall asleep first. Lol)
Giles Corey is an interesting fellow. From what I’ve read, He refused to enter a plea, as doing so, then being found guilty would result not only in your claims to money and property, but also your next of Kin’s claims to money or property via a will being negated. He died to protect his son’s claims to his farmland, or so I’ve heard.
Day 4 of no nut November: I’ve began to unravel my true reptilian self. I stare at myself in the mirror for exactly 1 hour and 27 minutes every day. I’m starting to hear colors and taste sound. I looked at my hot pocket and was able to heat it up with my mind without using a microwave. I catch myself levitating at random times. Who am I. Who is me?
Since we are talking about group think, you should watch the JRE episode with Peter Boghossian. I came across that guy's name watching talks and debates by Dan Barker, Matt Dillahunty & Co and everything I have seen by Boghossian is pretty interesting
